Ludwig rushed for 631 yards and eight touchdowns, averaging 5.8 yards per carry, caught four passes and also recorded over 100 tackles for the second straight year under head coach Bruce Ingalls at Laguna Hills High School. The Hawks were 8-3 last fall, including a 3-0 mark in Pacific Coast League play, finishing tied for first place, and earned a CIF-Southern Section playoff berth. Ludwig was a first-team All-Pacific Coast League honoree for the second straight year and also was named his team’s offensive MVP. In the spring of 2007 he was named to the All-Nike Camp in Eugene, Oregon, and was named one of the top 15 high school linebacker prospects by Scout.com. As a junior, Ludwig made his mark primarily on defense, accumulating 116 tackles, including 24 for lost yardage and four sacks, along with six forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries. He also qualified for the 2007 CIF-Southern Section track and field divisional finals in the shot put and played baseball as freshman and sophomore.
