I was surfing around this morning and saw this high school football (http://jenkstrojanfootball.com/end_zone_plans.html) facility. This is better than what Southern has right now. xnonono2x

Jenks is one of the top high school programs in the country. I remember seeing Jenks featured on a reality show on MTV a while back about high school rivals and senior pranks.

There's numerous HS that have better than Southern and even better than some of the FBS schools (Rice Stadium is pretty bad in Houston).

Same holds true in other sports. There's definitely some schools who have spent millions and millions. A few indoor football facilities too, which is crazy!

In baseball, Southern's facility falls in comparison when compared to quite a few HS facilities in Houston. And you guys have the best in the SWAC, so you can only imagine...

In basketball, the SLC plays at the Berry Center in the Houston areafor the SLC tournament, because outside of the facility in Corpus Christi, it is better than all the rest.

I was only using my school as an example, Rice stadium is old. (I've been there many times) Although I never understood why they needed a huge stadium.

They needed a huge stadium because back when they used to pack them in. They actually had a pretty good football program and it looked like they may actually be on the verge of something...

There are quite a few FCS schools that would like to have facilities like this.

glad to see a HIGH SCHOOL has it's priorities straight...

good lord. i realize that sports are big part of high school... i went to a football and hockey factory... but seriously... all this money on an HS stadium seems... misplaced.

Not when money is donated to the school specifically for an upgrade to it's athletic facilities. I assumed that is where the money came from for Jenks to afford this. While it may seem more right for the people who donate money to schools for improvements to consider bettering the academic areas of the institution, it's that person's money and as long as the school accepts the donation the person donating it has the right to allocate where those funds go.

Speaking of donations I wonder if the guy that ponied up the money for this stadium at Jenks is the same guy who's the oil tycoon that donated $100 million to Oklahoma State a while back? Jenks is in Oklahoma afterall.
