2007 - Played as a true freshman where he recorded 16 tackles and 1.5 sacks and 5 QBH.

High School -- Cooper played his sophomore and junior seasons at Skyline High School in Oakland and finished his prep career at Union Mine High School, leading the Diamondbacks to a 10-2 overall record, 5-0 Sierra Valley League mark and the finals of the CIF-Sac-Joaquin Division II playoffs under head coach Dave Johnson. Cooper recorded 77 total tackles (29 solo), 7.5 sacks, one interception and two fumble recoveries en route to first-team all-league, all-Metro, all-CIF-Sac Joaquin Section and All-NorCal honors as a defensive end. As a junior at Skyline, Cooper notched 108 total tackles, three interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) and 12 forced fumbles, earning all-city (Oakland) honors. He also was the only junior on defense (linebacker) on the All-East Bay All-Star Team. Cooper also was an honorable mention all-city defensive end as a sophomore.
