The I-A polls should be close this week. I know the voters are in love with USC but Texas has been rolling over everyone (except Ohio State). Totally dominated CU today and USC squeaked by ND today (I was going for ND).

Who should be #1?

Before today, I would have said Virginia Tech. But after today I would definitely say USC. Leinart, Bush, White and company are just too much. They will always score enough to win no matter who they face.

1. USC
2. Texas
3. Virginia Tech

After that, I don't know.

National polls don't matter...

Virginia Tech will be above Texas in the BCS anyways, atleast that's what everyone is saying in the national media. If not now, they will be when it matters cause V-Tech, if it keeps rolling will be beating tougher teams...

When you win 28 in a row like Southern Cal has, then you've earned the right to be #1 until you lose.

Incidently, I'm no USC fan, but as long as Texas is #2, I'm pulling for the Trojans because I don't want to see Texas ranked #1. :D

Don't worry about Tech. One thing you can count on from a Frank Beamer team is that they will lose at least 1 game to an inferior opponent. In the Big East, that was Pitt. Last year it was NC State. Their next game at Maryland is looking like a good opportunity for any gamblers out there....

I agree that USC should stay #1 for now, but I don't think they'll run the table this year.

USC is keeping games so close that there's no way they'd make it out of a conference like the SEC or ACC undefeated. MY list:

1) Texas
2) Georgia
3) USC
4) VT

...this is not what the rankings SHOULD be, its more what I think they actually ARE. i.e. maybe USC hasnt deserved to lose it's #1 spot, but I think if given the oppurtunity TX and UGA would beat them more often than not. You can't sleep through the first half of your games in the SEC. If VT wins out, and it's a tall order, I might think about moving them ahead of SC too. USC will fall this year, and UCLA is going to do it.

According to the good ole BS poll, oops, I mean BCS poll, Texas is numero uno.

You are smoking rock. USC would beat Ugay 10 times out of 10, and the majority would be blowouts. The SEC has too many off weeks. Vandy, Kentucky, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Miss State, USC. All of those teams are bad.

If USC gets shut out of the BCS title game, ordinarily, the fans wouldn't be too upset. They know that if they go 11-0, they'll maintain #1 in the AP poll. However, this year, they won't be able to play in the Rose Bowl if they're shut out, so they might actually get upset.

There's a bit of arrogance about SC fans that gets old after awhile, though nothing compared to UT fans.

Texas will drop off in the future BCS rankings. You have to admit, Texas has shown us quite a bit this season. The only game they have played where victory was in question was the OSU game. They have pretty much destroyed everyone they have encountered thus far.

USC on the other hand is a true enigma. Nobody has more offensive firepower than USC, yet they play against the awful defenses of the PAC-1. People point to the 70 point blowout of Arkansas, but Arkansas is not UT, LSU, Bama, Georgia or even Auburn. Arkansas is not on the same level. Let's not even pretend to go there. USC has played several very sloppy games and their defense does not match their offense.

Thank god this will be settled on the field. Of course if an SEC team and an ACC team run the table, and they get shafted then it will spell the death knell of the BCS (hopefully).

Ugay beat that same Arkansas team by a field goal. USC is head and shoulders above anyone in the SEC.

Agreed. Keep in mind that USC has won 29 straight games and 2 straight national championships. That means that for the last 2 1/2 years, they have had one hell of a bulls-eye on their backs and still came out winning. Every week they get the best shot of the teams that play them.

Georgia is probably right now the best team in the SEC and their really only impressive win is over a very overrated Tennessee team. Georgia or even Alabama would get circles ran around them if they played USC.

The SEC is at best the 3rd best conference in 1A. Sorry teams across the board.

We will see what GA is made of this week when they play FLA. Without Shockley it will be a tall order.
