Since the move to OKC is now official for the team formally known as the "Seattle Supersonics". What do you think the name of the new team should be?

Oklahoma City Twisters

More appropriate (i.e. city-neutral name) will be Oklahoma City Crusaders or perhaps the Bulldogs.

Since the Sonics were so bad, they could show some optimism and call themselves the OK's. :o

In this era of arena naming rights, this sets up the perfect deal...

OKC Wranglers at the Levi's Arena.

I would have prefered the Sonics for Oklahoma, since it is the home of Sonic Drive ins,

xeyebrowx Better names in there than Bison. xsmiley_wix

Oklahoma Collared Lizards or Port Silt Loam has a nice ring. xeyebrowx

BTW, what is everyone's feeling on them being Oklahoma ____ or Oklahoma City ____ ? IMO I'd drop 'City'. There's really not a chance another team will locate in Tulsa, so just have it be the state. This is like the Carolina Panthers.... much smarter than being the NC Panthers or Charlotte Panthers. xtwocentsx

I think the Oklahoma City Okies name is registered and trademarked by the NBA already. I remembered reading back in the WSJ or the NYTimes about it sometime last year, but I'm not sure if they will use that name or a different.

How and the hell are the rest of us supposed to top this?

I wanted to come on here and play off the gang bangin/hip hop mentality that is the NBA but those 2 are just too good.

Oklahoma should never be able to use the Sonics name! Travis already posted the two names they are considering and it's just going to be horrible to have to watch this team in OKC for the forthcoming future

Beats the Bobcats and their colors. xrulesx And people will show up for the games. xnodx Charlotte hasn't been the same since the Hornets left (the Bobcats couldn't sellout even if MJ laced them up again) so OKC better hold on to them.

They shouldn't have a name, just keep the nba logo on the jersey, like their summer league unis.

It is amazing when you look at the markets that the NBA has added mostly through relocation: New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Charlotte, Memphis. Meanwhile, they've lost a canadian market they hoped to use as the first steps towards an international league, now have lost Seattle, a larger market and one with regional support that extended from Seattle into Montana.

Oklahoma City Steers or the other thing that Lou Gossett said came from Oklahoma in Officer and a Gentleman! That would fit some people's opnion of Bennett.

Wasn't there an Oklahoma pro team called the Drillers? Or how about the Schooners?

My almost-serious suggestion is the OklaDopes.

Or at least bring back the Oklahoma City Outlaws, last seen in the USFL...

Up here, it's an "import"!:p

Down here they market with the following taglines-

LS- A beer so good they named a state after it
LS- Any other beer is an import
LS- Drinking anything else would be Treason
LS- If you can't find it, you're in a foreign country
