The NHRA announced they will run 1,000 ft. races the rest of the year for the Nitro class for safety reasons. I agree this is in the best interest now for the sport in the wake of Scott Kalitta's death. I just hope the NHRA along with the tracks can come up with the right safety requirements for them to return to the traditional 1/4 mile runs. The 1/4 mile is tradition and can be completed in safe manner as long as the right precautions are taking. It would be like making Indy or Daytona 400 miles.
