Montana lost to EWU 34-20, not 34-2.
A bad loss but not that bad.

I think the only game left in question is the MSU/PSU game. SIU will more than likely lose and Hampton and TxSt will likely win. OK, TxSt will undoubtedly win.

WOW!!
The final in that one putter was 61-35. The game was called a little early apparently (I don't know how much) because Coach Kill of SIU had a seizure and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. :(

Just got back from Lafayette where Mcneese beat SFA 33 - 23.. Mcneese had over 6,000 fans (that were announced) at the game. Not bad considering a home away from home game in the hurricane zone...
It was beautiful day for football. Mcneese started out fast, sputtered a little in 3rd and held on in the 4th despite some questionable officiating in the 4th qtr. SFA's passing game had its moments..
Mcneese able to run the ball late to control the clock. Mcneese's defense stepped up when needed.
Punter jason cook returned to team after a year of ineligibility and had a 70 yard punt to start with.

Coach Kill (SIU) was hospitalized and will likely be kept overnight or two. He has a history of mild seizures in high-stress situations. This one apparently was more serious as he lost conciousness and his breathing was inturrupted and was still out when he was taken away.
Props to ISU coach Denver Johnson for leading a united prayer with BOTH teams at midfield at the conclusion of the game. He spent some time talking to SIU as a team after the game as well.
As for the game.....
We Suck.
I've been rather hesitant about this team all year and good QB was all it took to prove me right. Drone is going to be a dandy up in Bloomington. I'm not giving up on these guys by any means, but after how we played tonight and with our remaining sked, (@WKU, @UNI @IndySt., and home games with YSU and NDSU) if we win two of those I'd be surprised. Our secondary is going to have to have an epiphany of biblical proportions if we are to salvage this season.
As Cap N Cat would say - SIU's fifteen minutes are over.

I think people are jumping on this YSU bandwagon way too early. Have they beaten anyone with a winning record yet? They struggled at home yesterday to beat a 2-5 W. Illinois team that's winless in Gateway play. They'll have to win two of the remaining 4 games to make the playoffs, and I think they could easily lose 3, and possibly all 4.

I'm not completely sold on YSU either BUT they have been winning. Until they lose they get the benefit of the doubt IMO. Many other teams have been ranked high due to their reputations - at least YSU is proving it on the field. If they lose though I'd expect people to drop them pretty heavily.

I agree. I certainly think YSU is a top 20 team, but top ten?... Seems a bit of a stretch at this point in time IMO.

I agree that YSU may not be top 10 yet....but sooner or later....EVERYONE has to take roll on the teams that have 1 loss or less....(ie. Texas St, YSU and UMASS). When they play the creme of their conf....it will be sorted out.

Does a 9-2 Cal Poly make the playoffs?
Does a 8-3 Cal Poly make the playoffs?
slostang
October 16th, 2005, 04:38 PM
A 9-2 Cal Poly team should make the playoffs. One of the losses would be to I-AA team and Poly would have big wins over Montana State and North Dakotat State. It would also mean that their other loss would probably be against either Montana, Eastern Washington, UC Davis or Idaho State and that they would have wins over all but one of the four.
An 8-3 Cal Poly would still have an arguement. A 10-1 Cal Poly should be a top four seed.

I would say a 9-2 Poly would have a shot at a seed, and an 8-3 team would have a real good shot at the playoffs
