High School - Boaz recorded 56 tackles as Nipomo High School earned a berth in the CIF-Southern Section Northwest Division playoffs for the first time in school history last fall, posting a 5-6 overall record and finishing tied for third place in the Los Padres League with a 4-3 mark under head coach Russ Edwards. Three of Boaz’s tackles were sacks and he also notched one interception, one fumble recovery, blocked two punts and also blocked a field goal attempt. Boaz earned first-team All-San Luis Obispo County and first-team All-Los Padres League honors as a defensive lineman. He also was first-team all-league as a junior and an honorable mention as a sophomore. Boaz finished fourth in the discus and fifth in the shot put in the California State Track and Field meet in 2008.
