I am shocked that Tyler Rhoel is nowhere this list. He is at least a top 5, but not even an honorable mention on here.

Don't know about Reid (probably a stretch since Edwards was listed as honorable mention) ... but you disagree on Turner (and a Houston boy at that)???
Only missed three FG's in 20 attempts all year (two were blocked and true miss was from 54) and finished second in FCS in field goals and 17th in scoring (and he only played in nine games).

Of course I am kidding andy. I was just being sarcastic due to TexasTerror sitting in his perch with his binoculars surveying the land ready to attack anybody that uses D1-AA instead of FCS. As he tries to get all AGS posters fired up about it. xnonox

Not even an Honorable Mention for Sean Schaefer. I'm pretty sure he's got the most passing yards out of everyone mentioned. The kid from Delaware hasn't even played yet. Perriloux? The writer is star struck!
Armanti Edwards should be 1st team without question! Phillips from W&M is good, but what about the kid from Richmond?

3rd Coast Tiger and company are all excited about this listing...they think that I am simply "hating" on it because they have a first-team QB and the fact it calls our subdivision, the wrong name...
The fact is...there's no credibility to this one by a long shot! The list speaks for itself and anyone that follows our subdivision knows as much...

In all sincerity TT, please STFU dude! No fan from Texas Southern is excited about this PRE-SEASON crap.
I posted all over this listing because it is listed as "D1-AA" and I know that you are writing President Bush as we speak.
Based on the brilliance of Armanti Edwards over the past two years he DESERVES to be listed on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Honorable Mention teams. xthumbsupx

Nothing against Blake Bercegeay...he's very talented and may very well have a great 2008, but he was 8 for 13 last year, Turner was 17 for 20, including a SLC record six field goals in one game. I'm not claiming Jeff should be 1st team pre-season All-American (though should be considered) but to say this publication's list has no credibility because they chose him over other kickers in the Southland is ridiculous.

No credibility because...
a) This publication released the All-American list twice according to one poster here
b) Bobby Reid, who has not played a snap in FCS and will be playing on a team that went 0-11 last year as a first-teamer
c) Several players of note are not on the team while several players (including 3 UAPB players and a SHSU player) that should not be on the team are.

Those are legitimate issues to question, but using Jeff Turner as an example because you don't think he's the best kicker in the SLC, lacks credibility in it's own right. He may very well not be the best in 2008, but he clearly was in 2007.

Had a down year in 2007 (and wasn't he even injured for part of it?), but the 'body of work' over the last three years makes him the "cream of the crop" in my eyes.

I have heard the rumor that agents pay them off and they take money from agents to direct players to them. Not sure I would put anything in a publication who would even entertain the thought of taking money from agents.

Have no problem with your opinion that Bercegeay is the best guy...but when you use Jeff Turner as a specific example to question someone's credibility, especially when the numbers back him up, that's when I have a problem.

Blake didn't really have much of a chance to showcase his skills last season because Mcneese scored so many TD's and most of his missed field goal attempts were not chip shots.. Blake Missed 5 FG's last season of 42, 52, 44 and 38 and had 1 blocked from 27 yds againest EWU on a wet field. Your right though numbers wise Turner had a better season last year based on field goals.
Besides that, this list is garabage.. Any site that is still using 1AA doesn't warrant much crediblity because it's I-AA, when that was the correct term..xrolleyesx

Bercegeay's lack of production last year had a lot to do with the improved scoring of the McNeese offense. In 2006 Blake was called to the plate more times and was 18 of 20 in FGA and 33 of 36 in Pat. I imagine Turner was placed on the line more last year due to the problems the Lion offense had at times.
Both are obviously fine kickers.

Any pre-season awards list that puts a player in as an AA candidate before they have taken one snap in the division is moronic. See Tim Washington from several of last year's lists. How'd that work out for ya?

Must say I agree with you. If the player has not yet taken a snap it is not a good idea, due to past results, to include those type players.
