Did he screw up again? Did he get misinterpreted? You be the judge?

NEW YORK (AP) -- Months after returning to the radio with a pledge to mend the wounds caused by his comments about a women's basketball team, Don Imus is once again defending on-air remarks regarding race.

During an on-air conversation Monday about the arrests of suspended Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones, Imus asked, "What color is he?"

Told by sports announcer Warner Wolf that Jones, who used to be nicknamed Pacman, is "African-American," Imus responded: "There you go. Now we know."

In the face of criticism that ensued, Imus said Monday that he had been misunderstood.

Imus should be the last guy to bring up race. The "What color is he question?" is both stupid and irrelevant.

I'm not sure I buy his explanation either.

I would really have to be listening to the Audio from it, it is one thing to hear him say it and another to read it on paper. Do black people get arrested more or something?

You'd think someone with a national show would be able to express their point a little bit better without having to later say what he meant. I don't buy the explanation. Not that it matters b/c he is pretty irrelevant.

They played the audio on The Junkies this morning in DC, so I heard the actual exchange. The man is an idiot. Maybe it's old age or maybe he's retarded. Whatever the reason he should have kept his mouth shut in light of recent history.

"Trying to make a sarcastic point."

Now that is actually funny, unlike everything else on his show. The comment certainly didn't sound like sarcasm, nor a joke. I don't mind racial humor for the most part, but it has to be funny. Imus isn't (and has never been) funny so he should just stay away from the topic all together.

Imus was last relevant when AM radio ruled the airwaves...

Out-of-context. If "Pacman" was white, he wouldn't be harassed as much by the cops. What's so hard to understand?

Are the folks who were running to the side of Michael Vick now scattering to the four winds?
