You can't call a decision that was never made a mistake.

That's why Masconomet's Teddy Reed elected to hold off one more year on making a decision between what sport to play in college.

On the one hand, Reed is a talented football player who was getting some heavy recruiting from local Division 1-AA programs like Northeastern, the University of New Hampshire and UMass Amherst.

On the other hand, Reed feels he has only scratched the surface of his vast potential in lacrosse.

With an offer in hand from Northeastern, Reed — a 6-foot-4, 260-pound two-way lineman who will suit up for the North squad in tonight's Shriners All-Star football game at Bentley College in Waltham (7 p.m.) — determined his best course of action was to hold off on making a choice, at least for one more year.
