Former Appalachian State standout running back Kevin Richardson has signed with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League.

Richardson, who set school records for most career rushing yards (4,804), most rushing yards in a season (1,676), most career rushing touchdowns (66) and most touchdowns in a season (30), signed his contract with the Alouettes Tuesday.

You must be privy to some information that the talent evaluators of these teams do not have. Maybe he'll catch on with someone and get a chance to prove them all wrong.

Practice squad is announced today. I hope Kevin is at least offered the practice squad - will buy him some time to learn the system and hopefully get activated or picked up by someone else.

Damn, saw that he was released along with Jesse Mahelona. He was a beast DL at Tennessee.

It is very difficult for americans to make rosters in Canada. Ricky will learn alot in his 9 weeks on IR and hopefully make the roster after that.

I would have to think being put on the 9 week IR list would show that Montreal has some intrest in keeping Santos.
If anyone is in the know on how things go in the CFL, what is the pay rate for being on IR? Is this a good sign for Rick, or no big deal?

Ya, I would think if they didn't have any interest they would have just cut him... but I would like some more info on how the IR system works up there...
