Here are some updated pics of the new press box/club suite construction at Strawberry Stadium (Southeastern Louisiana). Compared to what we had, it'll be literally like going from the outhouse to the penthouse. Can't wait 'til it's finished!!!

Looking forward to visiting Hammond. May have to wait until 2009. Your home schedule doesn't exactly match-up with my schedule unless you guys let me hook up the laptop to do some work in the pressbox... ;)

As of right now it's ahead of schedule. Our home opener is September 13 and it's scheduled to be finished about a week ahead of time. If the weather holds, could be finished well ahead of that...we'll see.

GL94 knows more about the specifics than I do but the Victory Club (lower level) will accommodate well over 100, plus there will be two party decks off each wing which will accomodate another 100 or so each. My understanding is there will be four private suites on the Victory Club level and two more on the press box level (upper level). Plus there's room for expansion.

Other than temporary seating for bigger games, I don't think there are any plans in the near term but down the road there has been some talk. I know one thing that will likely happen is the construction of a berm in the north endzone assuming we get a new track facility and can remove the old track around the football field.

SLU's track and field program had a helluva year. It would be something else if a Louisiana school built a nice enough track and field facility capable of hosting the conference meet. Seems that it rotates around the Texas schools who have capable facilities. Is NWST capable of hosting the outdoor meet? Can't remember...

That is correct. USD will be the first opponent and UND the second.

Our track program has really taken off under Sean Brady. Amazing considering the lack of facilities, but hopefully that will be rectified soon. Not only will a new facility help the track program, but will allow us to do some things in Strawberry Stadium to upgrade the overall experience for the team and fans. Not only the north endzone berm I spoke of earlier but down the road, possibly building a new south endzone complex closer to the field and turfing the entire area instead of inside the track as it is currently.
As far as hosting the SLC track meet, I would assume a new facility would be able to accomodate it. We could easily go from the worst track facility in the league to the best if everything gets approved.

We were wishing for a long time as well, and finally those wishes are coming true. Strawberry Stadium is an old veteran (built in 1936) and an excellent setting to watch a game, but was quite antiquated in terms of modern amenities. I'm sure visiting radio crews will appreciate the new digs...especially those who have been here before.

Starting out at six right now (as LRK said, four in Victory Club and two in Press area). Victory Club seating is about 120-130 seats. All sold pretty fast with a huge waiting list.

Yes. Had a pretty dry spring, so steel work went up fast. Any days missed were quickly made up on Saturday's and Sunday's. Slated completion date is Sept. 10 (three days before USD game). Everything right now (knock, knock, knock) is ahead of schedule.

Bring it. Just no excessive talk about a certain school in Huntsville :p
