And im not just directing this at Laker fans, but the team as well.
A Celtics fan was assaulted by a large group of Laker fans at the Staples Center during game 2 (The Lakers open the arena to let fans watch the game on the video screen).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noFEMUqI7Ek
If the Lakers are going to open the arena for this, they should have security on hand to break up things like this....
They better make sure they have the entire LAPD there Thursday when Boston finishes off the sweep.

And I am sure the Boston fan had nothing to do with it. No taunting, no smack talk, no nothing. Just a bunch of Laker fans decided to pick on a Boston fan.
I don't really like either team so I am not biased. I think it is horrible that this kind of crap pops up now and again. kind of takes away from the actual game.

Actually in 2004
The cops shot a girl who was sitting on an angle iron cross bar (structural piece) of the stadium about 15 feet up...
witness reports "she was waving at people passing by and chanting we are the champions" ignoring the police request for her to come down
so they killed her (accidentally) shot her in the head with a rubber bullet

It wouldn't surprise me, but that's not a Boston only thing. It's sad, but it seams like it's almost more common for there to be some sort of celebratory riot when a team wins a championship lately than for there to not be one.

Actually it does justify it in my book. A group beating on a guy in a gang like type of deal no way. But if you're a Boston fan in the Staples center and you are starting ***** and running your mouth then you are asking for an ass kicking and when one is delivered you have no grounds to cry foul. There was security there but there were about 15 fights in the Staples center through the course of the game that were lit up because there were some Boston fans walking up and down the aisles taunting the Laker's fans when they had their 20 point lead. A little Western Justice got served up to them and that's the way it should be. There should be consequences for those actions that are payable immediately by getting you ****ing teeth knocked out. There are also consequences for making the dullard pay for his mistake that usually involves court, restitution, and possibly a little jail time. I have paid that price before and would gladly pay it again if some jackass from the opposing team starts that kind of bull***** within swinging distance. I don't remember reading about a lot of this kind of thing when the Lakers were in the championship series before. Maybe you should question the classless acts of the Boston fans that precipitated the actions. BTW, I hate the Lakers.

If your team is the visitors, and you are at the game, keep your mouth shut. It is very rare when fans will attack somebody who is not talking sh#t.
My wife is a huge Dallas Cowboy fan and we almost had an incident in Denver (all around dumbest fans in sports). The Broncos laid an ass-kicking on the Cowboys and while we were walking back to our vehicle people started talking sh#t. We were in a group of 6, but we still kept our mouths shut until some jackass screamed "Cowboys Suck" right in my wifes face. I told the guy to go ***** himself and show some class. This joker went on to say "We're back to back Super Bowl Champs, what have the Cowboys done". My wife reminds him that the Cowboys have 5 Super Bowl wins, and he tried to argue with her that they didn't.

I know. If by some act of God the Cubs don't choke this year, part of me is going to think I should lock myself in my apartment and not come out for about a week, but I'm pretty sure it will be over ruled by the part saying "Walk your a** up to the Cubby Bear or Sluggers and get drunk."

HIU, guys joke around between each other, at least where we're from. There is quite obviously no harm intended by his post. It is about her being a cowboy fan. It is funny and I know this to be true because I laughed at it when I saw it last night. It's not a big deal and making one out of it is silly. Be cool man, there's nothing wrong with a little humor once in a while.

Plain and simple, when you are watching your team on the road root quietly for them. There is nothing wrong with wearing your team garb just don't flaunt it. In all the years I've been going to sports events I've never had a problem when I was at a venue to see my team on the road.
Except...a few years ago when URI was playing UCONN at the world's largest outdoor bar otherwise known as Rentchler Field. Some punk walked up to me and about 2 inches from my face screamed "URI SUCKS". I simply flattened him with a right hook which he was too drunk to see coming then calmly walked into the stadium.

Smack or not, exercise a little self control. Assaulting someone because they talked a little smack is stupid. It can get you thrown in jail, all because some idiot from the "other team" got under your skin.
But I do agree that this kind of stuff happens too often and that it detracts from the game. Lakers/Celtics is an awesome sporting event to see I'm sure, so why not put your energy into the game instead of taking some guy's head off at the concession stand?xeyebrowx

This fight didn't turn into a city wide riot because there appears to be a lot of white people involved. Dumb, and drunk, but they have jobs and families. If the brothers were involved en masse, it would have made world wide news and turned into a nation-wide racial mess with at least one of em getting shot. The casualties would have been deified as martyrs and they would have invented some dumb ****in name for em, like the Laker Seven or Staples Peoples.

Don't know the details of this particular situation.
The Celtics fan was probably out of line, and the people who administered the beating were probably out of line too. But who knows which side was more out of line.
I remember tailgating in Chattanooga in '05 when some ASU fan had on a football helmet (or maybe it was shoulder pads, but you get the drift), and he bullrushed through the UNI tailgating section, bumping into people and yelling crap. I was really hoping someone would tackle him and start wailing on him, but I think all that happened was people throwing beer cans at him and such.
Of course, later on, some UNI fan had gotten and defaced an ASU flag and was waving it around, yelling crap. Which proves there are dumbarses in every fan base, unfortunately.
