Allen Nelson of McNeese could have a big year. He really runs well and hits hard

EJ Webb, sophomore.

I saw Webb last year and think he could be very good.

with two guys on that list we may have the best group in the country... pierre banks is quite the stud but as a true sophomore next year dj smith could become one of the best ever to wear black and gold... he was the leader at linebacker in the second half of the season

Mark Newbill, SO, 5-11, 215, Southeastern Louisiana...

2007 Stats: 84 Total Tackles, 54 Solos, 30 Assists, 8 TFL, 3 Sacks

True freshman in '07...a tackling machine...didn't become a full-time starter until midway through the year...still managed to lead team in tackles, finishing third in the SLC...finished tied for first in SLC in solo tackles...eight tackles for loss...three sacks...18 tackles in season finale against Nicholls State...outstanding instincts...will be an All-American before his career is over...special player.

While Chauncy Mixon of SIU is deserving, don't overlook his teammate James Cloud-45 tackles, 14.5 TFL, 8.5 sacks, and an INT last year.

Let's also add Jacque Roman of App State - at 6'1"-240 lbs he is an outstanding middle LB - He did lead the Mountaineers in tackles last season

The two names at the top are the ones that stick out to me. Bobby Daly will be and should be heavily considered for the Buck this year and Cyrus is one of the fastest guys I remember watching at LB last year. In the game against the Griz it felt like the guy was everywhere. He is very good

I think by season-end, there could be two Patriot League LB first-teamers.

Brandon Jordan - SIU

Played on a bad foot last year, could be the sleeper of the year.
