McKay was one of the classic sports announcers. Always gracious and not always talking, but letting the events speak for themselves. His work during the tragic Munich Games of 1972 was tremendous.

Sportscasters always have a distinct phrase that they can call all their own, but you hear the somber "They're all gone" and you know who it is and what it is about. RIP Jim McKay.
