Midway through the second game of the series Ellsbury has already stolen six bases against the Orioles :) He now has the ML lead with 26 steals.

And he now resides on my fantasy team, occupying an outfield spot once reserved for Eric Byrnes....it PAINS me to have a RedSUX on my team. xcoolx xcoolx xcoolx xcoolx

I saw Ellsbury run at a game at Yankee Stadium in April.

All I can say is that it was like watching one of those Road Runner cartoons. You know, he starts off running and he looks fast, and then he goes "meep, meep," accelerates into the dust, and he's gone.

I don't think I've ever seen someone so fast on a baseball field.

He laid down a perfect bunt today and was at first before the pitcher was half way there...blazing speed.....

Not to take anything away from Ellisbury, but Harold Baines could steal a base on Ramon Hernandez these days!

I am glad I've had Ellsbury on my team all year. Dude was projected to steal 26 bases by Sportsline...He already has 27. He has single-handedly put me in the lead in SB.

if he keeps up the recent pace he's on he could have the franchise record by the all star break. lol

i wanted him in one of my leagues. I offered the team that got him Chone Figgins and Joe Saunders. they said no :(

he's already 29th on the list.

Tommy Harper, 54 in 1973 is the record...

...he's also already 59th on their all-time list for SB.

Don't think we ever finalized the stakes, but I was convinced the Yanks had the short end of this one the first time I saw Ellsbury play on 4/17.

The guy gets a great jump on the bases, but the acceleration he hits about 25 feet into his sprint is other worldly for a baseball player.

I assume you know what I mean ... You have to see it in person to believe it. xnodx

Urban legend Alert..!!!
The NL and the AL have virtually identical stolen base numbers in 2008 xnodx

in fact 7 of the bottom 10 teams in Stolen bases are NL teams (Including the Diamondbacks at a lowly 23rd in all of the MLB) Below such speedsters as the Texas Rangers and the NY Yankee's

xnodx

1) Houston
2) Tampa Bay
3) Mets
4) Red Sox

of the top four teams (see above) in all of MLB if you add up their combined stolen bases the NL has 1 more stolen base than the AL
