Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition boys! The Phillies fired Ed Wade today!
Phillies fire GM Wade after eight seasons (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2186589)
This is only step 1 in the rebuilding effort. Step 2 is to fire Manuel too!
Step 3 is to bring in a GM who actually knows how to build an organization for long-term success!

Will Montgomery hire a crony without a "paper trail" in MLB? I hear Harriet Miers is available!! :D

One wonders if this was due to a 'difference in philosophy' that we always hear at one of these press conference. In this case, it might be true. Perhaps the crux of the firing is the philosophy of what to do with Thome. Wade was the hero when he brought Big Jim here. But now that he's damaged goods, and his 'caddy' an overall better player, a move has to be made and I sense someone didn't want to make it.
Additionally, could be related to resigning or not resigning Wagner. Who would you bring in? I have no real thought on this at the moment.

I just had a scary $%^#ing thought. I hope to God that Harry Gamble is NOT available. Harry was horrible in the Eagles front office, so he'd fit in fine with Dave Montgomery's crew! The fact that he's not a baseball man should have absolutely no bearing on his candidacy whatsover!!!!!
:p

I wonder whether Dallas Green would consider the job as an interim solution.
