We have seen Lindy's All-America selections so let's see a preseason 1st team from some AGS poll voters and other posters.

Who is willing to take the first crack at it? I am reading through some things and working on mine now. xreadx

You mean Otto? lol

I'm still in the xreadx mode. Anyone feel they have a well researched first team yet?

Looks good! No knock on Jay, just wanted to point out that my grandma could run through that hole in the last photo. Is this kid a bruiser or does he have wheels? I can't open up the youtube highlight at work.

Both...he's more of a home run threat than a between-the-tackles guy but he's big and strong enough to pound it when we need it. He's also an excellent receiver out of the backfield.

We saw Lucas last year up close and personal and he can rock it with the best of 'em. I think he is definitly in the running for SLC offensive player of the year. All-American? perhaps!

Players from the CSN team have been added to the All-America team I posted. Just a couple mistakes on there. Gilchrist was a junior last year, not sophomore. Also, Webb's first name is Lardarius. The only reason I point those errors out are because I know that CSN likes to get things right!

Good job by the CSN team!

With 12 TFL and 7 sacks last season he certainly deserves a spot somewhere. He had 1 sack as a freshman so if he has a 6 sack increase again we are looking at 13 sacks. Possibly 2nd team? xthumbsupx

Marcorelle is on mine. Must have missed him.

The school has it spelled Ladarius but Webb himself stated that everyone, including the school, spells it wrong. Just pointing out the spelling that the player himself has said it was. I had it wrong at one point too. xthumbsupx

It is very easy to mix up those years. I would consider that more of a typo than Ralph and CSN not knowing the year.

I'm guessing he only saw time on half the snaps last year, this year they will probably be a bit more creative with him in order to get him on the field...
He'll have way more tackles than he did this year as well

D.J. smith of App State won't be a pre-season all american but at the end of the season he will almost absolutely barring injury be second team. This season he will be a sophomore.

His freshmen year he had 121 tackles, 5.5 TFL, 1 Fumble Recovery, 2 Interceptions with one being returned for a touchdown(that same game he had 16 tackles and was against the Citadel.) Also had 11 pass break ups and 2 QH.

He only started 9 games last season and had limited playing time before he earned a starting role.

He will emerge as the next leader on defense as a senior. Gary Tharrington has that role right now as does Pierre Banks.

Gary Tharrington also shows flashes of greatness, and talk about tough as nails, this guy is as tough as any nail as i've ever seen or hit or stepped on. He will be a first teamer if he stays healthy.xthumbsupx

And Quavian Lewis, the transfer from Vandy, and Brian Quick at 6'5 and blocking that kick jumping from behind the d-line. Gives Armanti a HUGE target to throw to. Much much bigger than any other WR he's had yet.

Not sure about him winning it hands down but definitely a preseason top 5 pick and HUGE snub from my list. I have him on it now. Personally I think the preseason list will be different from what I posted because one person selects the preseason list as opposed to it being voted on in postseason.

One player who was not honored as all-conference last year who could be on the preseason 1st or 2nd team is Jackson State CB Domonique Johnson. Johnson is 6'2, 184, and has 4.4 speed.

For those who know nothing on him, outside of the SWAC fans, he started 4 games at Missouri before leaving. He had 5 INTs and 14 PBUs last season and was named the MVP of the SWAC title game. His team should be very good this year as well. They have a Washington transfer at DT and several other FBS transfers who should have even more of an impact this season.

Funny, no mention of the Andre Roberts kid from El Cid either.......

I only picked two receivers from the TSN and CSN teams and since Hudgins was listed 3rd from the tie voting on TSN I put him HM. Roberts did not make 1st or 2nd team by TSN last year nor did he make the CSN team.

These are not my personal picks. I'm still xreadx up on information. This is just an idea of how it would look if you slotted players up from TSN and CSN.

Anyone here going to take a stab at a 1st team themselves?

I'm trying to figure out why Belcher, Marcorelle and now Kukucka are being talked about as on All-American teams (not really); Hanson from UMass had a very comparable 2007 year (stat wise) and didn't even make a CAA team.

Belcher - 85TT, 17TFL, 10 sacks, 1 BrUp, 2 FF
Marcorelle - 64 TT, 15 TFL, 8 sacks, 1 BrUp, 5 FF
Kukucka - 40 TT, 12 TFL, 7 sacks, 1 BrUp, 3 FF
Hanson - 61 TT, 16 TFL, 7 sacks, 3 BrUp

I think that's because he somehow didn't make an all-conference team last year. He has two more years to do so :)

There are so many talented DL in the CAA that I am sure there were 3 or 4 very good ones who didn't make All-CAA last year.

He's definitely preseason a top contender for the Buchanan Award and barring injury should win it hands down.http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t109/Marty_Grant1122/colt_anderson.jpg

Terrell Hudgins honorable mention?xeyebrowx

Funny, no mention of the Andre Roberts kid from El Cid either.......

It is not beyond the realm of possibility that both Hudgins and Roberts could both be on the first team next year. They will definitely have the right guys throwing to them.

Jay Lucas, RB, 5-11, 220, Southeastern Louisiana

2007 Stats
173 carries, 1,239 Yds, 7.2 ypc, 12 TDs
51 receptions, 485 Yds, 3 TDs

224 touches, 1,724 All-Purpose Yds, 15 TDs

He is a very good RB, but are those really All-American numbers. SHSU's Chris Poullard is right there close by in production considering it was his first full season to start. I am looking for him to have a great season this year.

209 attempts 1038 yds 5.0 avg 13 tds
37 catches 338 yds 10.4 avg 1 td

236 touches 1376 all purpose yds 14 tds

DE Chris Brown could have a breakout season this year. He transferred from Texas as a redshirt. He started 6 games at Texas his freshman year until he broke his leg and didnt regain his starting position. He had a decent year last year, and definitely not All-American talk at this point, but I think he could be someone to keep an eye on in 2008

60 total tackles (32 solo)
5 sacks (7 total tackles for loss)
6 pass deflections
3 QB hurries

He is a very good RB, but are those really All-American numbers.

I'd say those are pretty darn good numbers, especially considering they occured in the first year of a new system with an inexperienced QB. Not to mention we faced three FBS opponents, including Kansas, who had one of the better defenses in the country last year. And Jay also played hurt for much of the year and had his touches limited in several games.
