Was at the Texans game. Left halfway through the 4Q when I heard Astros came within one on a grand slam (loudest cheering at the game and started a Let's go Astros chant)...

Heard the Ausmus HR in the 9th on the radio on way home. Got home to watch 10th and we're now in the 17th...

Wow! This is a game! Longest playoff game ever...

Astros got nobody in terms of pitchers to toss...

A backup catcher playing 1st (Chavez) and lots of guys you'd consider nobodies that make up the role players on the 'Stros (Bruntlett, Scott, Vizcaino)...

ASTROS WIN! ASTROS WIN!

Pettite is going game one. Oswalt in game two. Clemens in game three. This actually helped us fix up our rotation some as I think Oswalt and Pettite can go on shorter rest...

Clemens, questionable on that one, I thought his arm was gonna fall off!

When Burke hit that homer, I was ready to kill someone. I nearly put a hole in the wall of my dorm. I swear to God, I am so pissed off. How many more poor performances can we have????

Message to the Braves...your bullpen stinks. That's your problem.

And to Burke, congrats on making yourself a Houston legend for the rest of your career. You got loads of crap from everyone and you have now protected yourself from it for the rest of your career...

Burke...the Bobby Thomson of the Astros. Bobby never did anything again, either.

Burke still has a chance to do something. Thing is, he's a natural at SS or 2B. We got Everett at SS and he's a defensive gem. Biggio is back at 2B and he's hitting fine (though today was an exception). Burke had to learn the OF and can do utility work playing 2B and SS.

Tough break though with Bagwell coming back next year at full strength is Berkman goes back to the OF with NL Rookie of the Year candidate Willy Taveras getting better in CF and Jason Lane, who has emerged this year, in RF. Luke Scott (came with Willy in trade from Cleveland for Jeroime Robertson) on the playoff roster, Orlando Palmeiro, Eric Brunlett (better suited at SS/2B/1B) and if emergency, Craig Biggio can all play OF. So, Burke gets pushed out.

Burke was our 1st round pick that was supposed to be Biggio's replacement, but Biggio has held in strong and when he was in OF, Kent was at 2B...

Funny how the bullpen is...Farnsworth, who is certainly our only sure-thing in the pen, proved to be the achilles today and gave up all the runs to tie. Then the guys who are horribly inconsistent manage to keep the Astros from scoring in the 10th through 12th and the 15th through 17 (John Thomson, a started, came in for the 13th and 14th). I think the real reason we lost the game, besides the obvious bullpen screw up, is the fact that we left had 18 runners left on base. We were 1/14 with runners in scoring position...and that was the grand slam by LaRoche. That game should've been like 9-1 in the bottom of the 8th, not 6-1.

Great game, but I have to laugh at all the people who are making this out to be some incredible phyisical feat for these 'athletes'.

For Roger Clemens, yes. He sucked on short rest last post-season and he did this, throwing in the 90s in each of his innings. Incredible...

And then it was also incredible how some of these guys were playing out of position in this game. Raul Chavez at first? Are you kidding me? The Braves didn't have the same situation as the Astros did everything possible just to tie the game in the 8th and 9th then had used up so many players (pitchers and position players) that they were in a bind come extras...

Biggest lapse in judgement was the Braves player who was jogging from 1st to 3rd...and then got thrown out at the plate.

I could just strangle players that do stupid little league stuff like that. How many times have you seen players get thrown out by a step because they don't really start running until after they see the infielder bobble the ball. :bang: :bang:

i feel for joey devine, that kid has gone through alot in the short time he's been in the majors

maybe i'm biased as a fellow wolfpack grad, but i think he will be a great pitcher one day, soon as he develops some more pitches
