Penn State went toe to toe with the mighty Bucks. Great defensive game. PSU has shot to run the table if they keep improving each game, which they seem to be doing. Certainly, it's USC and Texas right now, but come Thanksgiving, Joe Pa may have something to say about who's playing in the Rose Bowl....

Penn State's problem will be their weak non-conference schedule. If there are 2 other unbeaten BCS teams at the end of the season, as well as PSU, the Lions will be left out. The only possible unbeaten BCS team whom they could edge out for the Rose Bowl is Texas Tech, who's non-conference schedule was just plain embarrasing.

I don't disagree with the weakness of PSU's non-conference lead up, however, in retrospect, at this time, it would appear that that was the thing to do. It allowed this team with a lot of offensive question marks and youth to get 'gelled'. It's still a long way to go. Michigan will be fit to kill in Ann Arbor after their early stumble, and Spartan Stadium is a most difficult place to play assuming MSU is still in the running in late November.

Against the Pathetic 10 and the Little 12, I'd think that Big 10 PSU, if they run the table, would have better braging rights and make a better case for things, even with some seemingly perannual powerhouses down. Big 10 and the ACC play mean defense and that's something that I think would kill USC this year, and almost got to Texas when they squeaked by OSU 25-22. Sorry, but USC is over rated this year. I honestly hope that someone from the ACC or the Big 10 does match up with them this year, and I think that will come in the form of either VaTech or PSU. Texas might have a shot too, but I bet they get knocked off by a surging Colorado, if both make it to the B12 Champ. game.

After PSU's win with another great defensive performance, I got to wondering that IF PSU runs the table and makes it to the Rose Bowl vs. USC, there could be some big similarities with the classic PSU v. Miami matchup for the National Championship in the Fiesta Bowl way back in ...1986? When Miami came dressed in their military fatigues, etc. Eveyone expected a huge blowout but Penn State's defense shut down the 'canes. Acknowledging a good ways to go, yet, but one does start dreaming of interesting scenarios.

Just got back from Ann Arbor, and Michigan's offense sucked eggs against Minnesota. Penn State will have at least an even money shot at the Big House next week. The Wolves are disorganized and poorly coached. Plus, the talent level is down, except for Breaston, Hart and Avant.

They have no defense, check that they have a very slow and ill preped defense. They got lucky to escape the Spartins, and they can sure as hell forget about winning at the Horseshoe this year. Even Big Blue's offense isn't that great this year as it seems that Hart is hitting the soph. slump, at least the few games I've seen so far this year.
Best two conferences in I-A this year clearly go to the Big 10 and the ACC.

USC, UT, VT and PSU could all very well be 11-0 (12-0 in the case of UT) this year. I love it. I hope the BSC has a horrific time every year.

Correct, I did mean BCS, but wouldn't mind seeing both have a bad year. :p

Hopefully VA Tech will come into Charlottesville undefeated on November 19th and will fall at the hands of the Cavaliers...man would that be satisfying. Not that this is likely to happen considering the play of our team so far...but still, I can hope can't I?
I hate the BCS, and I think Texas and USC will certainly go undefeated. I also don't think USC is overrated. That offense will kill anyone even if the defense falters a bit. Reggie Bush and LenDale White...Leinart just needs to hand it off. And when teams get distracted by the RBs, Leinart destroys them. Personally, I'd like to see a Texas-USC national title game. But having multiple undefeateds, more than last year's three, would sure be interesting, and would hopefully swing some more opinions in favor of a playoff in I-A.

Not before Frank Beamer and his squad speak.
What? Virginia Tech? They've peaked already. They no longer have Pitt on the schedule to upend their season, but Maryland will do nicely in a couple of weeks!
