By far Andruw Jones has been a most valuable acquisition for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He is very close to breaking into the top 15 in the National League in strikeouts. The ranking is as follows. All he really needs is a couple more multiple "K" games and he is there !!!

1t. Johan Santana 47
1t. Aaron Harang 47
3. Jake Peavy 46
4. Tim Lincecum 45
5t. Jonathan Sanchez 44
5t. Chad Billingsley 44
6. Edinson Volquez 42
7t. Johnny Cueto 41
7t. Cole Hamels 41
9. Todd Wellemeyer 40
10. Carlos Zambrano 38
11. Brett Meyers 37
12t. Randy Wolf 37
12t. Matt Cain 37
12t. Brandon Webb 37
12t. Chris Young 37
16. ANDRUW JONES 36

Braves sure know when to unload a guy. Galarraga, McGriff, Murphy, Jordan. If you're not being resigned or being released by the Braves and you're a cleanup hitter. You know your career is over.

You know, Andruw Jones has been soooooo bad for the Dodgers that I simply assumed that he had to lead the league in strikeouts -- my bad. By the way, he probably won't continue his current pace as the Dodgers are playing Juan Pierre instead of Jones. How far down has Andruw Jones come when he is playing behind Juan Pierre???

By the way, I have also edited the posting above. Since the addition of Ryan Howard and Mark Reynolds, that means that actually Jones is in 19th place. He will have to pick up the pace if he aims to be in the top 10. I am confident that he has the ability to make this happen...

Also, if Andruw Jones can SIMPLY pick up 60 points on his batting average, he will still be below his less than memorable .226 batting average of a year ago.

HOW DO YOU SPELL BUST?

Well, Pauly, not to rain on your parade, but HERE is the complete listing, with Andrew Jones falling even FURTHER behind:

1t. Johan Santana 47
1t. Aaron Harang 47
1t. Ryan Howard 47
4. Jake Peavy 46
5t. Tim Lincecum 45
5t. Mark Reynolds 45
7t. Jonathan Sanchez 44
7t. Chad Billingsley 44
9. Edinson Volquez 42
10t. Johnny Cueto 41
10t. Cole Hamels 41
12. Todd Wellemeyer 40
13. Carlos Pena 39
14. Carlos Zambrano 38
15t. Brett Meyers 37
15t. Randy Wolf 37
15t. Matt Cain 37
15t. Brandon Webb 37
15t. Jim Thome 37
15t. Chris Young 37
21t. ANDRUW JONES 36
21t. Richie Sexon 36

Now, in Andrew's defense, he does have fewer offical AB's than ANY hitter above him on the list. xlolx Course, he also has fewer RBI's, fewer HR's, fewer runs scored, and the lowest BA (although Ryan Howard is making a run at his level of mediocrity, with a .168 BA).

He's got some high paid company here....although I'm gonna quit bitching about Reynolds and Young...their batting averages BLOW the other guys out of the water! And they make about 1/10 of what the other guys are making!

Thanks for adding the other guys. Like I said in an earlier post, Jones has been so bad I assumed that he was the worst hitter.

BUT, one cannot argue with Andruw Jones' production. He already has 1 home run and 4 RBI's. At that rate he could actually break the 20 barrier on RBI's with 5 home runs.

PS -- Andruw did have a most successful at-bat today. Early in his at-bat he bit the ball to the warning track (but behind the catcher). He had a bloop double to right field and scored the only Dodger run.

PPS -- if he could only hit his weight (280 or more)...

You can't add American League guys to this list. They have different rules over there, like whoever spends the most money will win the World Series:)

Andruw's lazy attitude has finally caught up with him in the last couple years.

PS -- a vote for Howard of the Phils and Reynolds of the D-Backs, too...

Hey! Reynods is 7-19 in his last 5 games, with only 4 punchouts during that span. Ryan Howard, on the other hand, is 2-24 in his last 7 games, with 12 punchouts. Big Andruw is 5-30 in his last 10 appearances, with only 10 punchouts. He HAS raised his average to .170, from a low of .158 by going 2-5 in his last two games.... :D :D :D

Jones is 0 - 2 tonight helping the Dodgers to get shutout (so far). His avg is now .167 which is pathetic. Last year's .226 avg with 26 home runs and 94 RBI seems like a hundred years ago. Come to think of it make that 100 lbs -- not 100 years !!!

ANDRUW JONES HIT A HOME RUN TODAY -- IN FACT GARY BENNETT (BACKUP CATCHER TO RUSSELL MARTIN) ALSO HIT A HOME RUN TODAY. ISN'T THAT A SIGN FROM THE BIBLE THAT THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END?
