After the horrible results posted by Ivy League programs (they were so bad we couldn't list them), the NCAA put down a very harsh penalty on Ivy League schools, declaring that ALL athletic scholarships will be eliminated.

Not in our conference, but I'll mention them since we played this school the last two seasons:
Gardner-Webb, 1.85 scholarship reduction for football.

Couple other FCS squads on that list, some may even be potential playoff contenders in the next season or so xscanx xeekx
Sounds like they might want to get their academic houses in order a bit if that's the case.... xcoachx

I can't speak for the others but Southern has changed their recruiting style. They used to look at props and get them elgible during the year, but now they're focusing on quilfied kids.

CONTEXT
Two sports took a contemporaneous penalty based on their team multi-year APR score. Football posted its highest single-year rate at 944, improving its multi-year rate by 15 points to 905. However, football had a reduction of 3.51 scholarships for the 2007-08 year.

The effects of having three coaches in less than three years is starting to turn around finally.

Read how the APR works, it is pretty simple. xcoffeex

Seems the PL takes a lot of heat for not being competitive enough in the post season. A lot of comparisons are made at our expense. The term "soft league" gets bandied about quite a bit. That being the case it's nice, every now and then, to have the NCAA remind us that college football programs are in fact supposed to field STUDENT-athletes. Notice how the "student" comes first in that phrase?
So to all of those programs who are being docked precious scholarships...get your crap together! We in the PL and Ivy leagues may not be perennial National Championship contenders...but our players graduate! This feels good.xnodx

Well, your dad did a great job instilling the idea that "it's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game." Congrats.

Our players read too and we have one of the highest graduation rates in DI, but we aren't using that as an excuse:p

I don't buy that. Elon had 3 coaches in 4 years and didn't go through this. You saw our APR drop a bit, but not even close to reductions.
