In the case of the college teams, what an embarrassment that must have been for the school and its alumni.

Melo should be made an example of by the judge so these athletes, or famous people in general, call a cab or have somebody drive their a$$'s to and from the parties or dinner or whatever. It is not like they cannot afford a 20 dollar cab ride.

He came into my office, gave me some not-so-good news, and after I (predictably) flew off the handle at him, he responded with (in my best Arkansas redneck accent) "Mr. Martin, you react like frog legs on a lightnin' rod!" I now keep that image in my head, and try to be more reasoned in my approach to things that are negative in nature.

Also, while in the military, there were usually 2-3 people in each department that were always being picked on by the other guys. The ONLY reason we used to continually give crap to the same people was because they were the only ones not smart enough to STOP responding to the crap.

I think their status among athletes is a significant factor. When you're the star making millions, as opposed to a role player/backup making a few hundred thousand, you're treated far differently. People recognize you, and nobody stops you from doing what you want.

You're probably right. That was just my response to the idea of playoff suspension. Certainly the accusation hurts the image of the league. But until he gets his day in court, I don't see NBA sanctions as being deserved.
