I am a FC Dallas fan but finally got to a game in person which was the FC Dallas - Houston Dynamo game here in Houston. I'm sure the crowd was more into it because it was the 2 time defending champs first home game of the season but it was a lot different then I thought it would be.

I expected a calm small crowd since soccer isn't big in the USA. However there was a lot of passion and it was a great crowd. A large group of fans were singing and going crazy the whole game no stop. Whenever Houston score a goal they about tore the place down. The game ended in a 3-3 draw when Houston scored a goal in stoppage time at the end of the game. Tough to lose the lead but a tie is better then a loss.

Can't wait to go to another game.

as much as soccer can be ripped here in the US.... some of the teams really do have passionate fan bases... Houston is probably helped with its large hispanic population, but im not sure... was there a large hispanic base in the crowd?

yes. i should have mentioned that. im sure dallas home games are the same way. they were the ones that were leading the songs, chants, and cheers. however they have influenced several other races to love the passion.

the Revs have a good fan base too, not sure how it stacks up against some of the other fan bases though.

i really dont have any idea. thats why today was so much fun. much crazier then i ever thought it would be.

im sure the revs have a good crowd since they have been consistently good. the CA teams have a large Hispanic populations as well so im sure they are fun as well.

cant see a kansas city game being as fun. but who knows.

El Battalion, which is the largely Hispanic-based fan group! Texian Army, which is open to all! They've worked hand in hand together since the beginning of the Dynamo in Houston and have done what they can to make for a good environment...

Houston Dynamo has a pretty strong fan base and I lurk their fan boards (on BigSoccer). A shame Houston tied today and I think there were quite a few people upset with the crowd.

If Pat Onstad had not gotten hurt and we did not want to save him for the CCC (which right now is a priority), the Dynamo would have won this match. The match against Saprissa is much more important than that against FC Dallas. The Dynamo can beat the Hoops time and time again, especially at Robertson North in Frisco... ;)

i agree that the keeper going out changed the game. i wanted a win since dallas has never beat houston on the road. the hoops have a great player in cooper who scored two goals toady. he was a reserve for ManU and it shows.

I love BigSoccer. One my principal message boards. I technically should be a fan of D.C. United but I'm really a fan of the league as a whole want it to continue to improve in terms of support and in level of play.

Also, the Wizards games haven't looked half bad in the highlights I've seen. The Cauldron (I think that's what it's called) is always rocking.

Glad you had a good time. I attended my first two professional soccer games in February and a couple of weeks ago: a Bundesliga game and a friendly between Austria and Holland. Both of them were a lot of fun. xnodx

Chicago may have the rowdiest fans in Section 8...I was watching an ESPN game this weekend, or last, and saw a bunch of Toronto fans @ Columbus and they were throwing smoke bombs at the Columbus goalie and really interfering with play...it was embarassing for them

I think the best thing about the MLS now is the number of Soccer stadiums opening up...they really need those for the sport to succeed on its own

I'm hoping to make it to my first United game sometime this summer. I've got a friend that lives in DC so I'm trying to talk my buddy from Charlotte into a road trip.
