FYI on the Griz Vision before the game they flashed up Weber State's Head Coach Ron McBride quote, something about Washington-Grizzly Stadium being nothing as far as intimidating. Sounds loud in Missoula today.

NDSU's 41-0 thrashing is looking better and better.Everyone around me kept asking how could NDSU have beat this team 41-0, all having watched the NDSU - MSU game. Not taking anything away from MSU or NDSU, I think the truth is a combination of AGS, and Weber State is a team that has improved immensely and will continue to improve. McBride is a good coach, and won't let Weber accept that it is pre-ordained that they are losers. If McBride can stick with the team for a couple years I can see them making the playoffs in a couple years, and playing spoiler for a couple teams this year.

Griz do not have a QB that fit's our offense......Unless we find a "new" QB' we will not be in the playoffs...................FACT!

October 1st, 2005, 11:57 PM
The problem I see is that we don't seem to know what type of offense we run. We have one of the top running backs in the nation, yet we run most of our plays out of the spread offense. We don't have a quarterback who has yet proven he can throw for 300 yards and 3 tds a game, or receivers who can go for 100 yards (other than Talmage). To me our offense resembles the square peg-round hole quandry. Would we be better served running a two back set with a down TE every play, and throwing abotu 40% of the time? We have seen what Lex can do when given the opportunity. I think we should make the situation as ideal as possible for him.

Actually Ochs last year didn't go for over 300 yards passing that often. Only 3 games he had 300 yards or more passing (Hofstra, Sac State and JMU) One thing the Griz lack (in my opinion) is speed at WR this year. We really miss Hancock, Segars and Heidelberger. Bergquist and JW are facing a lot of situations where the WRs just aren't open. And no, a WR on the other side of the field, away from where the QB is running doesn't count as a open WR :P I'm pretty worried with JW hurt as bad as it sounds.. I really hope Bergquist is ready, and I do have confidence he will be a good QB for the Griz. Its just a lot of pressure to be putting on a freshman out there. One thing us Griz fans have to remember when looking at both Washington and Bergquist, even Ochs didn't start out with the Griz shredding every defense. I think both of these guys will end up being good QBs for the Griz..the Griz offense this year is just off to a slow start.
As was said on egriz.com earlier by a person who knows a few of the players, some of the players were starting to see some good things out of JW, and then he gets hurt :( I have to agree with them, even if it didn't seem like a huge improvement stat wise, it did to me look like JW was improving and becomming more comfortable in the offense. Lets hope for a speedy recovery, and hope that CB does a good job while JW is recovering.
One final note...I did like that Quinton Jackson got in a couple plays at WR. Troxel, Jackson and Schulte have the speed we need at WR. Jackson completely beat his guy on the first play he was in on..unfortunately it was over thrown :( I hope he gets some more time at WR, so our QBs have some speedy targets to throw to who can make tacklers miss. Please keep in mind I'm not down on Talmage, Bagley or Allen..all 3 of these guys are very talented receivers, its just that with all 3 of them being big possession type receivers, we lack the breakaway speed out there that the sma smaller quick receivers have, so there isn't much threat of one of our receivers juking a guy and taking it all the way..or at least getting a good amount of yardage after the catch. These 3 are definitely good receivers though and I'm sure glad they are Griz :)
