Where is the sage of steeltown going? The soon to be greatest spread QB ever will be heading to Ohio State I believe. He seems to be concerned about staying close to his family, especially his sickly father, so I dont think it will be Michigan even though that is probably his best bet. He seems to dislike Penn State for some reason although that would be a very natural fit. Oh well he will probably be washed up in 3 years xlolx

It'll be O$U, has been from the beginning. Sweatervest promised him 10-15 plays next year supposedly plus a signing bonus. He's going to be seeing a lot of pine time in his first 2 years at O$U as opposed to being a potential starter as a true frosh at Michigan

Michigan is the logical choice because of their new offense, but he bonded early on with OSU commits and staff and he's most comfortable there.

His knocks are his passing mechanics and the level of competition he played in high school, but if he chose Michigan I admit I'd be estatic. Some call him a drama queen and is starving for attention....we shall see

He does love the attention. He did play at the "small school" level in PA but his league and the WPIAL has some very good football for the size of the schools. No one out of high school has faced the day to day competition they will see in college

True, and he did win MVP honors in the AA game in San Antonio. Living here in NE Ohio we know how good western PA football is

Just read on a Michigan paid site word is trickling down that he may delay his announcement.....again

If I know the Nits' linebacking corps, they are already drawing up new lockerroom posters featuring a shooting target with T. Pryor as the bullseye. He'll be on his azz frequently when they play Penn State.xrulesx

xlolx ya he doesnt appear terribly smart or articulate. We shall see how he does in college when he will be asked to read defenses as he wont be able to just utterly dominate like in HS.

Another reason he chose Ohio State is apparently due to the fact that he believes the offense will suit him better for the NFL. Though many NFL personnel said he would get that at Michigan too. My question is who do the Wolverines turn to now that Mallett and Pryor are not going to be there?

I think they had 2 other QB's on the roster behind Mallett, but both are more of the drop back passer type. RR will make it work Shaun King wasnt very mobile at Tulane when they led the country in O.

It doesn't really matter what color jersey he ends up wearing because either way, he'll end up flat on his back after being sacked by whatever SEC team he ends up playing in the bowl game.

2 problems with that, one is you have to catch him & the other is you have to tackle him then. This kid is gonna be the next level up from Vince Young, mark it down.

Did they have any other QB recruits that could run a spread offense? If not could we see Michigan take a transfer, and I know if he came from FBS he would have to sit out a year.

Or will RR not overhaul the offense this year and wait till next?

The common mis-conception here is that the spread is only run with a highly mobile QB and that is false. Rich Rodriguez set loads of D-II records at Glenville state with slow QB's who barely ran. Sean King at Tulane ran Rich's offense and led them to an undefeated seson, and King is about as fast as I am. Chris Leak ran the spread pretty effectively at Florida a few years back. Any good coach adapts their attack to the personnel and that will happen this year, Michigan will be fine. It may take 2-3 years to get his system really humming but he will get there.

Michigan will go with Steven Threet this year who is 6'5 and pretty mobile for his size. He's a transfer from Gerogia Tech and is home state is Michigan. He was an Elite 11 QB out of HS but Michigan already had Guiterrez & Henne at the time, so he went elsewhere. Michigan also signed Justin Feagin who is a dual threat QB from Florida. Threet will get most of the snaps but if Feagin pans out this summer, he will get some snaps too. RR will mold his offense around Threet's abilities. I have seen video of their first practice and everything seems to be out of the shotgun and no huddle. A lot of quick passes

Michigan had Jason Forcier who transferred to Stanford last year when Mallett came in. His brother Tate is a dual QB who Michigan has already offered for 2009

One thing on Michigan's new S&C guy, Mike Barwis. He came from West Virginia with RR and I've read is already paying huge dividends. Players are getting faster, stronger, & slimming down. Michigan's old S&C trainer had been there since 1978 and they desperately needed a change.

Heretic-- Dunmore's O-Line avergared about 280. Yes he didnt play AAAA, but he played against solid competition.

Their LB's were basically 5'9 180 range. The competition at AA bball is very good because of the private schools.

Another facet of the Pryor signing that hasn't been discussed here is how it affects the current crop of young QB's in Ohio State's system because you just KNOW Tressel promised Pryor the job to get him to sign.

One of the backups, Antonio Henton http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=87746&SPID=10408&DB_OEM_ID=17300&ATCLID=1059414&Q_SEASON=2007, who is a rising sophmore, probably just saw his chances of receiving significant playing time at OSU go out the window barring injury.

Henton's HS coach was Rance Gillespie, who is the OC at Georgia Southern, and Henton ran a system in HS VERY similar to the Hatch Attack and was "a man among boys."

Don't be too surprised to see Henton in the blue and white next year...

Apparently Tressell didn't offer him the job but did say he would get about 10-15 scripted plays each game.

He was far from Mediocre at football. He and Peppers were the only reason UNC were relevant in football for those few seasons. He was a very mobile and athletic QB and led them to the Chik-filet bowl. Hell you can't be "mediocre" and make it to the NFL

He is a great athlete no question, he just never really developed QB wise. It could have been poor coaching or not enough time to dedicate to his craft.
