Only about 60-70 miles away from each other, they couldn't be any more different! One is in the peacful hills of Western Maryland, the other in the Wild Wild Westside of Baltimore.

Both teams have been to the dance before.

Don't know enough to make a judgement, I really thought that I would be picking MVSU for this game. I did see Coppin play and they played well against Morgan. xconfusedx

Hopefully it's a good, close game.

Had Morgan State beaten Coppin State, I think American or MVSU would be playing The Mount.

I've seen Coppin play a handful of times here and there. I know nothing of MT ST Marys.

It's the only game on, all eyes will be watching.

Given AU got a 15 seed, I'm guessing MVSU would have gotten the play-in invite

I'm taking MSM, only because they put together a better regular season before getting hot in the conference tournament xpeacex

I'll take MSM in this one. The play-in could have been different had Northwestern State (15-18) had defeated UT-Arlington on Sunday. MSM might have been stuck with Memphis, KU or North Carolina then.

They got jobbed by having to do the play-in game. That should be reserved for two at-large teams. Part of the magic of March Madness are the Cinderellas who rarely go to the dance. To put them on a Wednesday night when there's nobody else around is a crime. xsmhx

BTW, I'm definitely pulling for The Mount.... Catholic, closer and I know several alums.

The Mount! :)

First 21 loss team in the NCAA tournament for Coppin!

Check out CSU's OOC schedule, Kent State, Xavier, SE Mo State, UNCW, Hawaii, Arizona State, Ohio St, Dayton, Marquette, Indiana, Missouri!

I said it before, you can't judge Coppin by their record. They have won 12 of their last 13 games.

I'll take Coppin State. I saw Mt. St. Mary's play against Sacred Heart and it was painful to watch.

American got the top 15 seed since they are playing the bottom No. 2 seed (Tennessee is matched up with the No. 1 seed of the tourney). They were regular-season champ of the 16th ranked conference in RPI...they weren't going anywhere near the play-in game.

I think the next team to go would have been Texas-Arlington, since they are playing the third No. 1.

Theoretically they would do it that way, matching the bottom 2 seed with the top 15 seed, but the selection committee doesn't exactly do that. I don't think you can justify Tennessee as the 8th place team. A lot of times, they move around teams to play them closer to home or to create matchups (example: UCLA vs. Pitt last year), but this year they seemed to do less of that.

I'm going with history.
The team with the worst record has won the play-in game since it started.
Can't be a bigger underdog than a 20 loss team.

Coppin will advance to be slaughtered.

Mount St. Mary's should win pretty easily. They're the much better team.
Coppin State is one of the worst 3-pt. teams in the nation, which makes pulling an upset a lot less likely.

Mount St. Mary's is shooting much better from the line so far. That was supposed to be Coppin's biggest advantage in this game.

Mount St. Mary's wins 69-60.

The Northeast Conference wins its first ever tournament game.

The NEC was 0-26 in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament prior to tonight.

The Mountaineers kept hitting their free throw, and Coppin couldn't throw it into the ocean. What a horrible shooting team.

I'll take North Carolina
