Division Champion:
They added a top of the rotation starter Dan Haren to join Brandon Webb to highlight the rotation this season. The Arizona Diamondbacks are in great position to repeat as division champs and make an attempt to return to the World Series for the first time since they won in 2001.
I MAY read the rest, but you started with the best. xnodx xnodx xnodx xnodx xpeacex

Rangers ahead of the A's?!? xeekx The A's, believe it or not, may be a better team than last year. Swisher's production is easily replaceable by Barton, and the starting rotation of Blanton, Harden, Duchscherer, Gaudin, Eveland, and DiNardo (when Harden inevitably gets hurt) might be the best top-to-bottom rotation the A's have had recently, certainly better than the Rangers have.
Real AL West standings:
Angels
Mariners 3 GB
A's 11 GB
Rangers 19 GB

I think the A's will be better than Texas. The Rangers still don't have any real good pitching to speak of, although they certainly seem to be able to hit the ball, even with Texiera gone. Some good young talent in the lineup there. Still, Oakland is also going into a rebuild mode. I'd say they finish above Texas, but not that close to the Angels xtwocentsx

Trav has the Yankees in 3rd? Shocking xrolleyesx :p
Travis is confident, despite the fact that the Sox have been a perrenial second-place team that last year managed to eek a slim division title in a season during which the Yankees were decimated by injuries and found themselves down 14 games by the end of May.
The Sox have won one division title over 162 games in the past 15 full (162 game) seasons. Travis calls that a dynasty.
The Yankees are not old; they are experienced. They will put the best offense on the field. A rotation of Wang, Pettitte, Hughes, Kennedy & Mussina will be good enough to win a lot of games.
Whether the Yanks will go deeper this year in the playoffs depends on how good Hughes and Kennedy are by September.
Give this Yankees team a lead through seven, and Chamberlain and Rivera will close out a lot of wins. The Yankees' ability to outscore their opponents through six or seven, and then get the ball to Chamberlain/Rivera, reminds me of the 1996 Yankees. With Rivera and Wetteland waiting, the Yanks back then were locks to win if they had a lead after six.
In many respects, this Yankee team reminds me of the 1996 team -- which won the World Series even though it was not considered the favorite on opening day.

Hmmm...reminds me of the 1998 Diamondbacks. Old....overpaid.....suspect pitching. :D

They will get addicted to winning every game they lead after six or seven.
May not happen.

Can't really say if this is a valid comparison to this Diamondback team. I don't follow minor league baseball.

The Yanks are three back in the loss column.
This is a very close race, and the Yankees have a history as a second-half team.

Before you hurt the shoulder patting yourself on the back there, you'd better be able to tell me you forsaw a Yankee rotation of Mussina, Pettitte, Sidney Ponson, Darrell Rasner and Carl Pavano (even I can't believe I just wrote that xeekx)
If you did, your talents are sorely wasted here, and you should be in Vegas right now
