Bracket so far...

http://www.meacsports.com/sports/men/basketball/08bb_tournament_bracket.pdf

We have a tough one today. Everything is still up in the air, as it usually is in the MEAC Tourney. I think Morgan will win and advance into the tournament as a 15 seed, but we will see. Todd Bozeman is one heck of a recruiter. I wish we would have hired him when he interviewed with us.

Go Morgan State!

Hey, they are undoubtedly the best in the conference. We'll see. We play Coppin tonight, so you have a double dose of B'more to root for right now.;) I think Coach Nick will have us ready to avenge our earlier loss to Coppin, but the tourney will be no easy road for us, even though we are the #2 seed. I see Morgan breezing through to the finals and awaiting whomever (hopefully us).

I suppose I'll pull for Hampton, but NSU will be a close second.

Gotta go with the commonwealth!!

BTW, all the pub that the teams from Tennessee in the tourney are getting is making me sick...

I'd like to see A&T, but it doesn't look hopeful.

Fang had a rough season this year, I doubt they'll get past you guys.

We have a nice chance of a local team getting in. UMBC plays Hartford for the AE bid this Saturday. Loyola had a very nice year but crapped the bed against Sienna in the MAAC.

Morgan State is the best bet though. They are a very solid team.

BBall is very interesting. Tenn. St. took Vandy down to the last second in December, and Tenn. St. led convincingly most of the game before losing a squeaker. Fast forward a couple of months and Vandy is being bantered about as a Top 5 seed, and Tenn. St. does not qualify for the Tourney. The Vols and the Tigers, however, are the real deal.

On the MEAC front, if everything goes as it should tonight, you'll get a third HIU vs. NSU showdown tommorrow. That scares me. I hate playing NSU. Those rivalry games are EXTREMELY difficult.

Fang has had it rough for a few years. He isn't getting the talent he used to, plus all of the personal issues he's had. However, we have played so inconsistently the second half of the season, including a 19 point arse-whooping laid on us by the Eagles, that I can't call what will happen today or for the rest of the tourney on our side of the bracket.

Whatever happens, I think Todd Bozeman should be NCAA Coach of the Year for what he has done with the Bears.

Not going to happen (unless they win a couple in the NCAAs), but I'll agree.
I think he can count on the MEAC COTY. xthumbsupx

I know it won't happen, but it should. What he has done for Morgan has been amazing. Morgan has been so terrible for so long. For them to be as good as they are now is amazing.

Forgot to mention that I am with you in rooting for UMBC. President Freeman Hrabowski is a Hamptonian- Class of '71.

This is just about the only time I would think of rooting for the Retrievers. The NCAA tournament.

Well that and when they play Hopkins in lacrosse.:D

Seems like Coppin bites somebody in the azz every year, even when they don't win the whole thing.

On the bright side, NSU pulls Maryland-E. Shore. Hopefully they've got a pretty easy path to the championship game.

BTW, HIU, do you know why they have the three first round games on different days?

They are battle tested every season for sure. Their basketball team goes on the road and pays for the entire Athletic Department budget for all the OOC games. They usually enter MEAC play 9-12 games under .500.

The bottom seeds do a play-in game.

I told you. the second half of the season has been up and down for us. Well, I'm off to Crapsville until football season. Go Bears!

I was wondering why two of the bottom-seed games were on Tues. and one was on Wed., then Hampton and Morgan played a day earlier than the other seeds and the winners get a day off before the semis.

Also, what gives?? I look at the bracket once and Md.-E.Shore advances, then I see that Florida A&M advanced...Their playing with my mind.

Did you see the National Championship game officiating?

You are confusing the two brackets. The bracket on top is the Women's bracket. The bottom bracket is the Men's bracket.

Any Given Saturday. This is why I love this time of the year! Very unfortunate for Morgan State but they should be invited into the NIT.

Morgan State gets an auto-bid to the NIT.

All of these mid-major conference champions losing really hurts Brown's NIT/CBI chances.

The fact that a team ranked 246th in the RPI can make the field of 65 seems just a bit wrong.

They would need to change the tournament format.

Coppin should just go ahead and pack their away jerseys and fly to Dayton.

What is wrong with it? All qualifying conferences deserve an auto-bid. They won the conference tourney, hence they qualify.

Yes, all conferences deserve a bid. I just think that maybe there's a better way to pick who makes the tournament than to basically draw straws to determine their conference representative. I realize that there's money in conference tournaments that these conferences need, but there are benefits to putting a team that has a chance of winning in the tournament.
