Somehow Elon has made it to the SoCon Title game against that tiny school, whats it called again? Davidson you say? Yea, anyhow, I can't see any way Elon loses to the 25th ranked team in the nation. Not after I get done placing those intestinal parasites in the Davidson breakfast buffett!! (Note: should the Davidson basketball team actually become stricken with some type of digestive malfunctionxeekx xlolx xsmhx , it wasn't me, I'm about 600+ miles away).xpeacex

In any case, this is a nationally televised event. 9:00pm, ESPN2. You don't want to miss Montell Watson, Brett James, Ola (olaaa ola ola olaa olaaaa olaaaaaa) Atoyebi and the rest of the gang in the quintessential David v. Goliath matchup. Yes Davidson is 22-0 in conference play, and yes Elon lost to a Division 2 squad, but we have (or at least had when I went there) some pretty hot cheerleaders/dancers. Thats reason enough. Get your high def sets and your Jaegar ready, its gonna be a good Monday!

You can call it a moral victory so long as you lose by less than 20.

No Cinderellas! No Cinderellas! You know who I'm rooting for. Normally I would all for the Cinderella since my alma mater is in bubble trouble at the moment. Go Davidson!

My thoughts exactly. Why is Davidson in the SoCon again?

And don't give me that "They help the RPI crap".

Wofford beat Purdue who's ranked (even though we suck). Who did Davidson beat that is ranked?

I thought it was a mistake when the conference forced Davidson out in the first place. A school with that kind of academic reputation is always welcome in the conference (in my opinion). Do we need to get rid of COC and UNCG as well?

Yup.

Full-schollie football schools are at a severe competitive dis-advantage in Basketball to the non-football schools - just look at the mixed conferences - generally, the top 3 or 4 teams are the non-football schools.

Davidson has a wonderful academic reputation.xnodx

So does Furman and Wofford and they play football.xnodx Hell Wofford has about one-third of Davidson's enrollment and they manage the finances of scholarship football.

As I have said before, I have no clue how Greensboro ever got in the SoCon and CoC can remain (for women's sportsxsmiley_wix )

What creates the disadvantage?

Money. Not only are facilities expensive, but 63 scholarships at Davidson would be $2.5M compared with 12 BBall at $480,000. Also time and other resources. Look at Furman we have 2500 students and a limited athletic budget and personell resources. Take football out of the picture and fund raising, facility money, scholarship money, advertising and other promotion, recruiting strategies all can be focused on Basketball.

Good point. I hadn't considered that. Thanks.
