In one of the closes EIWA Wrestling Tournaments in ages, The Big Red nipped the Quakers 127-126.5 to win the NCAA's oldest collegiate wrestling tournament held at Franklin & Marshall College. The other three schools rounding out the top 5 were Army (90), Navy (84) and Lehigh (67.5).
Lehigh's David Nakasone won our school's 193 individual championship in a huge upset of #1 seed David Leen of Cornell with two takedowns in the final minute of the match. Nakasone graduated last year, but had another year of eligibility and was coaxed to come back for one more try and to give the team some senior leadership--on two seniors on the squad of 35.
Mountain Hawks also qualified four other grapplers to compete in the NCAA tournament in St. Louis starting March 20-22 (Ciasulli at 133, Chinn at 149, Caruso at 174, and Schubert at 184)
