From the D-II board, D-II monster Grand Valley State and Southern Illinois contract for a two game series.

Has anybody else heard this, and what does the returners for the Salukis look like for '08?

It's news to me. I've heard nothing of it at this point.

It may be 09 or even 10 before start.

With UND being a non-counter in 08, can't envision SIU would have two non-counter games.

That would be cool. It'd also be a case in which the FCS playoff committee looks at a game against a D-II as necessarily "lower quality" than a game against a D-I is fallacy.

OK, apparently the poster of that rumor has fessed up that he just made it up. Reason I was excited about it is that GVSU never schedules a challenging OOC game, and usually only schedules one a year. The rest are in the notoriously weak (other than them) GLIAC, and will not play an OOC game out of their home stadium. xrulesx

Sorry I posted this thread, as far as I am concerned it should be removed or allowed to rot in the "Smack Board".

Heard that one before. If you schedule a DII and loose ...you accomplished nothing but losing to a DII (lesser opponent). I have two YSU teams that were denied because of DII's; while other teams schedule I-AA non-schollies which are nothing more than glorified DIII's. If you are going to schedule a win, then do so.

This schedule was denied, yet 2 other teams with equal or lesser records were given a berth. The reasoning was multiple DII's ...which I completely agree with. Yet Hofstra was quite the power back then & that shows ability. Two years later, an 8-3 team was denied. Yet tat team lead #18 (IA) Marshall until the very end of the game. Again clearly demonstrating ability. I may not have agreed with that one, but I understand.

I might also point out that the game played on 10/8 in below schedule was (by far) the most difficult game of the year. At the end of the year, one team was 14-0-1 and the other was 14-1-0 , and they were both national champions. Do you think the selection committee cares? Or should they?
