13 months ago the US played Denmark in a match that FIFA originally decided wasnt a counter because Denmark didnt play its "A" team.
The US appealed saying the contract has language by both teams agreeing for it to be an official match, FIFA agreed.
The result is a Landon Donovan scored a goal in that match, combined with a goal last month he is now the all time leading scoreer for USA Soccer. Congrats.

Not surprising he scored a goal in a game that was only questionably a real game. I'm far from a serious soccer fan, but from what I know, he always disappears in the big games.

You clearly didn't watch the 2002 World Cup or any recent game between USA-Mexico, which are the only "big" games we have inbetween World Cups.

No, I didn't watch those. But I did see most of the 2006 World Cup games. Maybe I'm wrong. I certainly am not a serious soccer fan as I satted, so I guess I stand corrected.

The 2006 World Cup was a debacle that was the result of Bruce Arena having stupid tactics and lots of players not playing well. Donovan did not play well in the Cup, granted, but no one else, save Clint Dempsey, did either.

the biggest mistake of the 2006 World Cup was not having Taylor Twellman on the roster

Based on every single performance of Taylor Twellman has had against countries not from the Caribbean, I'm going to completely disagree with that statement. The problem was Arena played a 4-5-1 which left us short of attackers or chances, a change we didn't make until the World Cup, having played various forms of the 4-4-2 throughout qualifying.
