Bryan Smith showed why he is someone who changed the nature of the game when he was in at the FCS level. He was one of the "top performers" among defensive line in every category at the combine reported so far at NFL.com except for the bench press (the 60 yard shuttle isn't up yet). I don't know if you'll find a player from a FCS school that is listed as a "top performer" in as many categories as he is.
The bad news: At 228 pounds, he's really competing against linebackers. He would still be a "top performer" in two events (verticle and broad jumps) as a linebacker. But he's small even for a linebacker in the NFL and I think needed to get a better 40 time.
Tell you what, though, I'll really miss seeing him play for McNeese.
