2008 Fantasy Baseball

[UNHWildCats]

I'm doing a league again, similar to last year where you live or die by a teams talent, though a minor adjustment is that you can choose two teams and build your team with the best 30 players. This will mainly help with having available talent since last year we ran into issues with replacing players in a timely manner.

You can choose a team and after we have a full league you can choose your second team from the remaining teams.

Please post your team here and then join so if someone joins with the same team we can know for sure who had first dibs.

Please make your team name when you join include the initial team you have for example I just put Boston Red Sox, I could have also put UNHWildCats Red Sox.

each fantasy team has a 30 man roster. Last year we just took one team, but a lot of roster moves had to be made when role players were called up and sent down and sometimes people didnt get me the messages the right way and went days before I got it and changed the rosters so this year you can choose two teams and use the best 30 players from them... This will eliminate the need to constantly change rosters.

Once we have a full slate of players you can choose a second team from the remaining teams and then build your 30 man roster from it. You tell me the final roster and I will place the players on your team.

this year its a little diff. After the league is full everyone can pick a second team and then use the 30 best players they want combined from the two teams. This will cut down on the need to add and drop players from ur team as much as last year... theres no bench spots everyones active so there no real need for daily roster shuffling.

I usually limit my Fantasy Baseball Leagues to 12 teams.

Baseball season is 26 weeks long.

With 12 teams, each team plays the other 11 teams exactly twice, in a 22-week regular season.

Week 23 is first round of playoffs
Week 24 is second round of playoffs
Weeks 25 and 26 are the Championship round.

Just my opinion, but I think you'd be better off with David Murphy over Frank Catalnatto. Neiter will be an everyday player but Murphy will probably see more action and his .343/.384/.552 line last year was pretty nice for a rookie in 105 ABs

In any case you can change players anytime, its not like these rosters are in cement.

Other players im sure would like to see there roster on screen and be able to compare the previous seasons stats and what not.... and that cant happen til i enter all teams players and click start season.

just waiting for peems now, and spelunker had to make 1 change he had too many pitchers :p once those two are done, everyone will be able to view the teams there...

Now last year I shut off roster moves for everyone and made them do the changes through me, sorta prevent anyone from taking oplayers from other teams...

I will be willing to leave it open this year so people can add and drop players from the two franchises they have. However if I do this and say someone goes and tries to take Hanely Ramirez from the Marlins I will bench all your players and lock your team :p so behave and play fairly :D

What we did last year is you would drop Fielder, and the other team would drop Chamberlain from his team, and Travis would add those players to your team. But I'm sure Travis can explain it better then me.

The Sox might not call up someone from the minors.

Look at the Yankees...they have 6 SP on their roster -- Mussina, Wang, Pettitte, Chamberlain, Hughes and Kennedy. If they trade say, Kennedy for prospects, they might call up a utility infielder and go with one less pitcher on the roster.

And if Dice-K gets traded to the A's and bombs out, Travis is screwed, not you. Look how well Gagne worked out for the Sox...

Becuase we didn't have any problems last year. Any time a player from my team (The A'S) was traded to an other team durning the season I always let him go so the guy from that team could pick him up. THAT'S FAIR. I made a commitment so I wont drop out. But just to let you know, if Derrick Lee and Alfonso Soriano get traded to the Red Sox don't come looking to me for a trade I wont give them up, unless their having a crappy year, then you can have them. ;) :p
