About to tip off. Not a fan of either team but Calipari is a crook so hopefully the Vols win.

My wife is at a teen convention in Nashville, Tenn. Most of the kids at the convention are from Knoxville, Nashville and Memphis...

The administrator of the convention had to e-mail the kids a few weeks ago to say the game would be available to watch (they had to re-work the program schedule)...

This is like an NBA game in the old days! Up and down the floor, trading long jumpers, some sloppy ballhandling...very entertaining!

Dick Vitale has a freaking annoying ass voice and he talks WAY too much for a color guy.

He can be annoying but he is great for college hoops. His passion and love for the game should not be overlooked even if he has a love affair with Duke.

Memphis up by 1 at half. The pace started to slow some as the first half moved along. Memphis started to miss the 3's they were hitting in the beginning of the half and haven't established any inside pressence. I like Tennessee's chances to pull this out.

He loves Notre Dame too. He's cool in my book

Tennessee dominating the boards, and UM looks very sloppy. 6-point lead for the Vols with 9:16 left.

God...no break in talking from Dick and the other guy this entire game. They don't give you any chance to appreciate the atmosphere at all.

Tennessee wins!!!! Not a fan of either, but I really dislike Memphis.

Overall, I thought it was a horribly played game, two teams that aren't very smart, lousy FT shooting, and both I think are very beatable. They look at times they can beat anyone, at other times they could lose to anyone.

P.S. Vandy takes them out next game.

Pretty good game. I was not impressed with Memphis. Their best offense is a helter-skelter street ball style. They couldn't do anything in the half court once the 3's stopped calling, plus they're a horrendous foul shooting team. Tennessee played a great game but lacks a low pressence. I highly doubt Memphis reaches the Final 4, Tennessee has a shot but i'd be suprised if they do.

Nice to see there's a coach in America smart enough to foul intentionally when they're up by three with the game clock off.

I couldn't help but notice that, after ESPN showed the Vols coach talk about poise in his pregame pep talk, Tennessee indeed showed more poise in this game. Memphis players let themselves get too upset at the officiating.

That Tennessee team is pretty good.

Did you guys notice the Tennessee coach GRAB Erin Andrews during the halftime interview? That was awkward!

At least he wasn't drunk out of his mind like Joe Namath a few years ago with the sideline reporter (Suzy Kolber?)

I thought the Tennessee coach was flirting with Erin during the postgame celebration interview too. At least he has good taste.

Bruce Pearl is my favorite College coach he is great.

I also agree with furpal that the game wasn't well played it was just sloppy. It was fun to watch because it went down to the wire, but I don't believe those were the two best teams in the country. I also think that Joey Dorsey is more of a hindrance at times than a help. The guy is almost too aggressive.

I think the game played the way it did because you have two teams adjusting to the atmosphere of the game. Tennessee has never been ranked this high and Memphis (while they have been ranked highly the last few years) has been skating due to their conference schedule.
Memphis isn't a bad half court team, they just fell in love with the 3. but they are a better full court team which isn't a bad thing when you can force turnovers and convert easy shots.

At least Bruce Pearl didn't sweat thru his suit. xlolx

Its a bad thing during the NCAA tourney when they play a disciplined team who they can't impose their will and athleticism upon. They'll get bounced in the regionals if they run into a poor matchup

That can happen to any team, the tourney is all about matchups.

Yep, the Tigers could just as easily run into some teams who try to keep up with them, can't run an offense, and they could walk to a national title. xnodx

You just never know, a team that shoots well their shots may not fall. Some inconsistent team may get hot. Upsets, you name it. That's why I love March Madness.
