Good article about guys who are impact players at FBS schools who had 0-2 stars coming out of high school. Another example of how inaccurate this stuff is.

Interesting link, thanks for posting it.

One that stands out for me:

LB Scott Lutrus, So., UConn (Rivals: 2 stars)

No other Division I-A team wanted Lutrus, but UConn coach Randy Edsall thought he'd found a special player. Edsall was correct. Lutrus finished his freshman season with 107 tackles, including eight tackles for loss, and made several freshman All-America teams.

Good for Scott Lutrus!xthumbsupx

I liked the OL from WVU. It says his parents wanted him to go to Harvard or G-town and WVU was the only FBS to offer him. He turned out being a very good OL at WVU.

All the hoopla around Letter of Intent day is absurd. It's these recruiting analysists that drive it however.

A couple of weeks ago, I checked out the Morning Call's website and there were dozens of photos of staged press-conferences where student-athletes were making the announcement of their college? WTF???? I recall having a teamate a year ahead of me who wound up taking a scholarship to Notre Dame (the Lou Holtz, national championship contender Irish). There was no grandstanding. He accepted the scholarship and the appropriate paperwork was signed and sent off by officials. And it's not just big time recruits either. They do it for E. Stroudburg and Duquesne!!!! Like who cares?

Now, you got douche-bags calling fake press conferences to announce they've accepted a scholarship to Cal. That's only possible because of these absurd press-conferences.

Absolutely. It's all about over-blown egos..and mostly generated by the parents, followed closely by the HS administrations who get to puff their chests, as well. Of course, the media eats it up because it sells..All very pitiful.

And to answer Franks' question, I like to paraphrase Mr. Natural, "...don't mean sheeeeeeet."....(ah, yes, where are my old Zap comic books??)
