The Marlins are continuing on their quest (http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/B/BBN_MARLINS_BALLPARK?SITE=FLTAM&SECTION=SPORTS) for a new stadium. It'll be interesting to see where this goes, it's not like people actually go to the games.

Why the hell are they doing this? They can't fill the stadium they are at. Hell they couldn't fill a HS stadium

They have a lot of games where they have under 10,000 fans. They really could play at a high school stadium.
Just move the team somewhere where people will care about them, and get rid of Jeff Loria.

I don't know what's wrong with these teams in Florida wanting new stadiums.

I think winning will do that better than anything. Who wants to drive 45 to Pinellas County to see the Rays? (No offense, suncoastbluehen) xlolx

Yeah, because ownership then proceeded to sell off all the players. They've spent the last 2 or 3 seasons fielding a AAA team, why would someone pay ML prices for that? They've already shipped off Cabrera and Willis, why will it be any different with their other good players?

You ever try to go to a game in South Florida in the summertime outdoors?
First off it is unbearably hot and humid, and it could rain at any given time w/o notice.
The folks in South FL will support baseball (look at al the players that come from there and the college programs in that area and the 70K+ they had for WS games) but the place they play now is a dump and they can't bring enough fans to that stadium, in that location, consistently during the summer to raise the money to be consistently competitive.
They need a retractable dome and it needs to be closer to downtown Miami.
As for Tampa... the upgrades they did to the St Pete Dome (Tropicana Field) really made it a better place to watch a game but their stadium needs to be where the new Hard Rock Casino and State fairgrounds is, where I-4 crosses I-75. If they put a stadium there they would get at least 7k more per game.

The Marlins can build a new stadium, but I am not convinced that anyone will care.

My point exactly, I hate driving to St. Pete for games. It kinda sucks having to drive 45 minutes for those games, especially on weekdays. xnonono2x They would definitly get one more consistently because that's right down the highway from me.
