I vote "meh!"
Kris Benson hasn't pitched in how long?

And as for the slut...
She's a nasty-ass whore who only looks good after Maxim's makeup artists and photo re-touchers get done.
And before anyone accuses me of "being willing to stick it in" given the chance... HELL NO! She's got to have some disease that would prbobably dissolve the condomn.

Somehow, I don't see her being invited to dinner at the Utleys house anytime soon.

Expectations lower than Freddie Garcia. Unfortunately, results could be lower too.

It's just too hard to convince quality pitchers to agree to come to our band box, ahem, I mean Bank Vault.

In that case, for the sake of all those Phillies fans, I hope someone invents the anti-corrosive condom. Maybe just wrap tin-foil around the old package? She's gotta be so hollowed out by now that she shouldn't be sensitive to that.

Adam Eaton and Kris Benson vying for the 5th spot? Not exactly a prospect that strikes fear into the hearts of NL hitters.xcoffeex

Ha! It took me about 30 seconds to figure out what this meant!

Yeah, she would give the "700 Level" a whole new meaning.

One of the CBP seating categories in the Club Level is called "Scoreboard Porch". Um, I think her porch just lit up my scoreboard.:D

I've seen her in person in Baltimore. I was staring at her for a while, as was everyone else within a 2-mile radius, until I asked my buddy who she was. "Ohhhhhh....THAT bitch". She's got a mighty horrible reputation, both as a person and as a general whore. xrotatehx But she was damn fine looking. Damn fine. xnodx

And what NL team (even AL team for that matter) has a 5th starter who strikes fear into the heart of hitters? No one wins or loses based on the quality of the 5th starter.

That's a good point. The answer probably is none. I just did a little research on likely 5th starters for all 16 NL teams. The list is below. I used the 2007 ERA+ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ERA%2B) stat for the basis of this comparison.

For those not familiar with ERA+ click on the link above. But the basic gist of it is that an ERA+ of 100 means you are a league average pitcher. The higher above 100 the better. For example, Pedro Martinez has a career ERA+ of 160 making him the record holder in this stat category. Santana, Oswalt and Clemens are all in the 140's.

PHI: Adam Eaton ERA+ 73
NYM: Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez ERA+ 115
ATL: Chuck James ERA+ 100
FLA: Ricky Nolasco ERA+ 78
WAS: Matt Chico ERA+ 91

CHI: John Lieber ERA+ 98
MIL: Chris Capuano ERA+ 88
STL: Matt Clement ERA+ 72
HOU: Chris Samspon ERA+ 96
CIN: Endinson Volquez N/A
PIT: Zach Duke ERA+ 79

ARI: Micah Owings ERA+ 109
COL: Jason Hirsh ERA+ 100
SD: Mark Prior ERA+ N/A (ERA+ 64 in 2006, ERA+ 120 in 2005)
LAD: Jason Schmidt ERA+ 72 (6 starts, ERA+ 125 in 2005)
SF: Kevin Correai ERA+ 129 (8 starts, lots of bullpen work however)

It looks like El Duque is the best 5th starter based on these 2007 numbers. Correai obviously has the highest ERA+ but worked mostly out of the bullpen last year, so I disqualified him because he's a bit of a question mark in the starting rotation.

Unfortunately I don't know how many wins El Duque's ERA+ of 115 is worth over (for example) Adam Eatons of 73. I'd guess it's not more than 3? I'd love to know the answer to that if someone has it. I think I have to agree with GannonFan that a 5th starter isn't going to single handedly make or break a team's season. Especially since it's likely you'll see a lot of turnover in that roster spot anyway.

I hate to say this, but eventually Jamie Moyer won't be able to bring it anymore. That would make Benson or Eaton the No. 4 starter, and the math gets worse and worse ...

I hope this doesn't happen in '08, but ...
