I went to the State Tournament this weekend and got to see Ryan Leonard finish out his hs career as a 4X State Champion, but his record is really what got me at 149-1. Anyone else go?

Any idea if and where he is going to college?
149-1, 4x state champ is amazing.

Been watching the paper on that Benne, tempted to go up for the finals every year, but never seem to make it. Been to the Cowboy Invite several times when my young'n was wrestling, those were tough tournaments.
His Senior year he was challenged at home prior to the tournament and lost to our 215# wrestler. Then, Montana did not have a 215 division, just 189 and 275. My kid weighed 180, and had to choose to either stay home, or wrestle HW as we had nobody in that slot. He chose to wrestle with the big guys. Since he was unranked, he had to wrestle a pig tail just to get into the 16 bracket.
On his third match, it was up against the #1 ranked Class A, from Glendive, and we thought it would be all over. Nope, he beat the crap out of him and earned a major decision. Went on to barely lose the championship match to a kid out of Bismarck. The Glendive kid went on to win the title at Metra that year. Man, we had fun up there. Mine ended up earning his spot back and finished second by 2 pts in the Wyoming state tournament at 189. That finish still haunts him today, because he never really took the sport seriously while in high school.
Told him a million times that the difference between a champion and all the others is razor thin. Did learn that for himself in time to step up in college football.

Wrestling is really pretty good in Montana these days, the kid is going to have a future if he hits the books too.

There's rumors that he has already signed with the University of Great Falls, but their recruit page is blank and I haven't scene any thing about that being true.

Great Falls just wrestled Boise St. fairly competitively, 12-26 or close to that.

That would answer the books question.
