I really thought that spot was a bit short, til I read the list of guest coaches for the afternoon (Frank Beamer was up next. Was hoping they might ask him about a "mountain challenge" game but no dice). But in a nutshell it sounds like he was as much excited as some of the incoming class.

Actually if you go back to the start of this thread you will see that I started this for the viewing of signing day information. Yet, somewhere along the lines the talk of Appalachian's Signed Letters has been lost. Lets get back on topic although it is a bit fun.There are other boards for the extra stuff. I am excited about our class. The biggest weakness last year was our run defense. That was addressed with Malcolm Bennett who is already enrolled at ASU and working out with the team. The biggest weakness this season is projected to be our secondary for obvious reasons. We probably need two of these guys to come in and start on Day 1. Between Bell, Lloyd, Gainey and Brooks we should be able to achieve that. Plus we got some good prospects in Chisholm and Pressley. One of these kids will even have a chance at being the starting TE.

However, this year with Gilbert and Love back there....throw in Bell and possibly another they should be fine. Will be a drop from this year but shouldn't be too bad.

All of those, besides Lewis and Bennett, have started for us at one point and all have one more year of experience under their belt. I am assuming, with this depth, some of our recruits will be redshirted..

With the more experienced D-line returning, the opposing QB's should have less time. Hopefully that will take a little pressure off of our new secondary.

The juco's should be a nice addition to the D-Line rotation to keep everyone fresh but we are stacked up front, especially with the kid from Vanderbilt being able to play this year (I can't ever seem to remember his name). We are going to be tough against the run and should have no excuses for not being able to pressure the QB with our front 4. I think our secondary will be ok and will benefit from our pressure as aluded to earlier but I worry about pass first teams this year like Elon. We obviously won't have the shut down corner's and instinctively great safety but some of these guys may surprise some people. Keep an eye out for leonard love. My only worry is the O-Line. You just can't easily replace the size of Kerry Brown. I really expected to take an O-line transfer to fill in right away and that was the only complaint I can make about this class but Jerry knows what he is doing and I have faith. We are sitting pretty on offense and defense and I can't wait to see how it all plays out again.

I'll give you these points...I have heard some great stories from back in the day about "small college" rivalries and how fierce they were, for example Lenoir Rhyne vs. App...I am sure those NAIA trophies were hard earned and do demonstrate a good football tradition at Elon. xthumbsupx

Duh, we chose to move up thus were not eligible to receive them. We don't have any JuCo trophies either.

I like that thought. If the OL LBs can get enough pressure to get a bad throw out.........we might also see a few more INTs this year.
