Didn't see a recent thread for general tips/advice on the Championship trip. I thought I'd start a new thread for this year but feel free to combine it with one from last year if you'd prefer, Mods.

My question: From the photos I've seen, it appears the video boards/scoreboards are in the corners flanking the stage. Does that make them an awkward angle/difficult to see from the sections on that end (101-102/131-132) without craning your neck? It looks like there are a couple small video screens on the other end but not sure whether those are just message boards (they look pretty small to watch a replay from the opposite end).

I've never sat way on the far north end of either sideline but I've been pretty close (goal line to 10 yard line) and never had an issue seeing at least one of the big screens. They aren't that big by today's standards but do the job. I don't recall any video screens on the south end of the stadium.

Here is the advice that really matters...

The game is in Texas so at some point go order a Chicken Fried Steak with black eyed peas and okra, and some corn bread.

Secondly, don't worry about the video screens, just watch the damn game and enjoy it.

Bye the way, good luck to little brother!
Go Griz.

Here was my view in 2016 courtsy of an NDSU co-worker. The stadium isn't that big, so watch from anywhere is a decent view.

What sucked that day tailgate was ~0 degrees and game start time.

Not a bad seat in the house. Enjoy the pomp and circumstance. You may not get another natty opportunity.

Eat at anyone of these places. You can thank me later.

Pappadeauxs Cajun seafood and steaks
Randys Steak House in Frisco they love Bison fans. Great food.
Taco Cabana Tex Mex
Nates Seafood and Steak House across the street from Fogo. Real funky place that has blues and jazz on the weekend.
Hutchins BBQ in McKinney. Frisco store is really good but they only have beef ribs on the week end.
Fogo de Choa
Babes Chicken Comfort food--all menu items are served family style and you wont find better hand breaded chicken strips anywhere. Portions are huge. Very popular place.
Pecan Lodge Good BBQ but you have to go way down town. Hutchins is alot closer.
Rudys BBQ close to the stadium. Mediocre BBQ but the brisket breakfast tacos are great!!!!!

I would highly recommend Hutchins BBQ, which is about 5 miles East of the stadium, but I would also recommend Hard Eights BBQ.

I've found the McKinney Hutchins to be less busy and short line to get in. Love the Texas Twinkies. Brisket and cream cheese stuffed jalapeños wrapped in bacon.

Yummy sounding - just sent this to Little Miss FUBeAR. She’s the best ‘chef’ in FUBeARFam … seems like it might be a good tailgate item … even served chilled, maybe.

THANKS!

BTW - Y’all know Pappadeaux is part of a chain of restaurants with 38 Pappadeaux locations in TX, AZ, NM, CO, IL, OH, AL, and GA…including one 4 miles from the FUBeAR estate. They also own about 50 other locations across 8 other restaurant ‘concepts.’ It’s good, but it is a chain restaurant.

Had never heard of Pappadeaux..... sounds good and the promo tells me it is publicly traded and makes up a significant portion of Team FuBeaR LLC holdings .....

It's a nice twist to seafood. Been to two different one's (San Antonio and Cincinnati) both were excellent that tells me QA is pushed through out the chain.

Excellent food. Their home made Boudin and soft shell crab are some of my favs. We eat there a couple of times when we are down for the week.

They also have a VERY high end steak house called Pappas in Dallas as well. Some of those steaks are also served at Pappadeauxs.

We are going to try Flemings Steak house this year. Looks really good.

I think the McKinney is better. Plus they have beef ribs all week. The Frisco location only has them on the weekend. But get there early if you want the beef ribs because they do run out at times.

Owned by Pappadeauxs. They have cajun, mexican, BBQ and a high end steak place. All on 4 corners of the same intersection.

I went to the Frisco city museum. Very interesting on how city has grown. Basically an outpost with like 1000 folks in 1980 I remember seeing on timeline. I was there for the NDSU vs SHSU NC. Cannot make it this year due to Monday game! Go back to Saturdays! But it all goes back to TV money!

So, there are a lot of other cities and neighborhoods that are like that as well, not tract homes. Neither neighborhood has anything to do with Frisco stadium or the game. Of course, not sure why the pic of Celina was brought into it anyway either. It's just a case of old neighborhoods and new neighborhoods regardless of the town or city. No neighborhood in Abilene, old or new, is going to look as nice as Florida or my other home area in the Philippines but hey...

Someone said that there was no development north of the stadium when he visited. Not anymore.

In 2010, Celina had 6,028 residents. In 2023, 43,317. Estimated population when all is said and done? 378,000.

Wow DFW thanks for that. That was me. Im always interested in the growth zones. I note Celina north of Prosper TX, which was also an afterthought Im sure in my 2012 visit. Prosper is hometown of Lafayette College recruit Keegan Shoemaker a few years back who did great as a frosh, then Covid hit, he was back in Propser and transferred to SHSU. And started! Sigh. Anyways are you in Celina? I was going to come down this year to see my NDSU friends BUT when I saw it was Monday evening I couldnt take the time off just after the holidays! I do recall on the SATURDAY of NC 2012 driving up from Dallas on NDT and a line of cars awaiting to get off. I went the next exit, Eldorado and circled back - winner! Thats where development seemingly ended. They had just opened the Costco (where I filled up I believe before you had to have membership) and had a burger at the new Whataburger. McDs wasnt even started (I would note as I was a RE Mgr for them for a decade). It would have been great to meet up with a Hoya in the Big F...lol..I dont like Mondays (Boomtown Rats, 1978, and very tragically relevant today almost 50 years later) so have it Saturday! I recall partying with NDSU folks (after they kindly advised us parking lots were closing so no more postgame tailgating) at Blue Goose (still there!) and I recall eating dinner during my stay at a Twin Peaks like place that was new on NB tollway pretty near stadium. I looked at google maps but none of the names ring a bell so guess it changed. It was right up against NDT so you could see it. I did of all things back in 2012 bump into a Lafayette sweatshirt wearing guy who came out as he lived there. So we had a chat at halftime. I was wearing both Pard and NDSU clothing lol. Pre cell pictures I wish I took a picture. Was comped ticket by NDSU guy!
