It depends on the role they'd have Shaq play. Late in Kareem's career, 1987-1988, the Lakers would look to push the ball on offense and have Jabbar lag behind. If the fast break failed, Kareem would then join the half court offense. This saved his legs and gave the Lakers a defensive presence in case of a turnover. r

Miami doesn't necessarily want Marion....they want that $40 million back they owed Shaq to spend on other players. I think they'd be just fine if Marion opted out.
