Sure, the Suns need some help in the middle but for a aging, hurt player who's having his worst season in his career ... and with the Heat getting Shawn Marion???

That would be a stupid trade for the Suns. Shaq cannot keep up with their style of play, and is nothing but a bum now. Marion is the much better player.

Valid points, but what they were talking about today, is that the Suns have yet to win a championship with their style and to get pas the Spurs, Lakers(now), Mavs they are going to need someone besides Amare to control the paint. I don't see how they could change their style that drastically, but I imagine they would accommodate him. Plus Marion did express his desire to be traded in the beginning of the season.

Like A-Rod... as Paul O'neil once said: "he'll be the greatest player that never mattered"
Now that's funny... xlolx

Maybe two years ago. Shaq is on the downside of his career. Maybe a change of scenery will help but it doesn't look good right now.

If you're the Suns, why?

Marion is gone after this year, Banks has an albatross of a contract, We need a prescence inside for the playoffs.

Shaq at C, Stoudemire at PF? Nice. Maybe The Diesel can crank it up in a new location.

Last time Shaq got traded...................HE GOT MOTIVATED.
What better motivation than helping a 3rd team to win a Championship.
WHO ELSE HAS DONE THAT IN NBA HISTORY?
Give this a chance people.
Even as a LAKER fan, I can say this WILL NOT turn out bad for the SUN's considering what they gave up.
They can get that back this summer.
As we all know, Shaq don't get serious about playing until right before the PLAYOFF's.
He go all out then.xnodx

Agreed.
The Suns (as they existed yesterday) are a flawed product. No defense, no rebounding, no presence in the middle. Shaq fills all those roles. He also can do what NOONE on the Suns could do---guard Tim Duncan, Lamar Odom, Yao, etc., etc., etc. I'm tired of watching Amare struggle against those guys....also, yeah Marion being gone may hurt the break a little, but with Nash, Amare, Diaw, Barbosa, Hill, and Bell all out on the break, Shaq could be just fine ambling down the court and joining the offense if they have to go into a half-court set. Hell, when they run the offense the way they do most of the time, shots go up so fast only 2-3 guys get down the court anyways!
I'm with JState---since I'm pretty sure the current configuration ain't gonna win any time soon, I'm willing to give this a chance. xnodx xnodx xnodx xnodx
Now, if Shaq stays hurt and doesn't contribute, well then it's a bad deal. xeyebrowx

That doesn't help out my fantasy team though. xmadx

Shaq is not going to be light on the cap, I think next year he's due 20 mill. Unless Shaq fully recovers and returns to his form in '06 it's going to be a crapshoot.
I'm no Heat fan but it's good to see the team trying to get out of that cavern they are in right now.

Duncan and Yao gave Shaq fits in his prime.

Shaq is an inside presence as already noted. He will be asked to play D so Amare doesn't get into foul trouble, which he does better than anyone. They will still run through Nash. Plus the Heat will still get a good deal, Marion with Wade will be great. Banks is a waste of space pretty much, way way way way way overpaid he makes Rashard Lewis look like a bargain. Heat are helping themselves out tremendously
