BTW... "Giuliani — who also appeared, by himself, on a 2004 Topps card — was not consulted about the new card, Luraschi said."

Wouldn't producing a card with somebody's image doing something they wouldn't endorse and admitting the photo is a phoney be some sort of libel or something? xeyebrowx

I'm no defamation attorney, so I don't know if Rudy has a claim for "unauthorized use of his likeness" or whatever. But if he has any sense, he'll roll with the punches and let it go.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think he will or should do anything about it, but in all honesty, this was done specifically to sell more product. I think it is very wrong of Topps to do this. I'm no PC police and like a joke as much as the next guy, but it's clear to me that's what they're doing. The joke is funny. But when you turn it into a marketing gimmick, I don't care for it. It's different if National Lampoon does it. It's common knowledge that they lampoon people. A baseball card company that is known for how serious their fans take their cards is a different story. xtwocentsx

Is it possible that elected officials are held to a different standard? I don't know the answer, just posing the question for further discussion.
