Elko signs with Delaware State; Johnson-Farrell opts for Rhode Island

Arundel High’s record-setting quarterback and his favorite target both accepted football scholarship offers last week.
Quarterback Nick Elko, the Capital-Gazette Newspapers’ Player of the Year, committed to Delaware State of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. Meanwhile, wide receiver Brandon Johnson-Farrell chose Rhode Island of the Colonial Athletic Association.
The commitments by Elko and Johnson-Farrell bring to five the number of Anne Arundel County players who have accepted Division I scholarships. Last week, St. Mary’s announced that running back Dontra Peters and defensive end Marlon Johnson had committed to New Hampshire and Villanova, respectively.
