Well, like his brother, he has won a championship. By today's standards, that makes him better than his dad, who never played on a championship team. Peyton arguably plays on a team loaded with talent, does that indicate that Eli may become, or has already become the
KING OF THE MANNINGS?

Nope.... Eli didn't win the game the defense did.
Peyton is the better Manning.

Peyton is the best QB in the NFL, but Cooper is the best Manning for going through what he has, and watching both his brothers win a super bowl.

Only time will tell...

And as for Travis' comment...I could not possibly disagree more.
Eli Manning had an 83 yard game winning touchdown drive with a few minutes to play. They were all passing plays or running yards by Eli. New England was winning and ELI beat the Patriots defense. And ELI beat the New England team. And ELI won the Super Bowl. And ELI is the Champion.

The Giants D is primarily responsible for putting the Giants in position to win the game but Eli is primarily responsible for winning it.

And ELI was on the field and held the Patriots offense to 14 points, their lowest point total of the season!
Oh wait, no he wasn't...

No one would have ever believed that 17 points would beat the patriots and the Giants knew this as well as anyone and were playing to score at least 30, but they didn't. The only reason the giants were even in this game was because of their defense. They held the most prolific offense in NFL history to 2 touchdowns and for that the MVP should have gone to the defense as a whole or several players on the D-Line. Eli Played a sound game and had a great drive at the end. That TD pass however would have been a bad throw if the defender didn't slip, it was not the definition of precission passing. His scramble from what looked like a definate sack was amazing and was capped off with an even more amazing catch. Congrats to the giants and Eli but Peyton is still the better QB as of now hands down and the Giant's defense won that game.

Q: Who's better than those front 7 guys for the Giants...?
A: Nobody..
They led the league in sacks and pressure and seem to be getting better every week...

A few things about this:
I know of a guy who thought that NEW ENGLAND wouldn't score as much or more than 17: Plaxico Burress. And if you recall, Tom Brady came back with his now infamous "Only 17?". Well, looks like Plaxico was wrong since New England couldn't get those 17 points.
Regarding the Giants defense...they were great. But anyone who wants to give virtually all the credit to the Giants defense and not their offense needs to recognize the Patriots defensive effort. They held the Giants to only 17 points. If you are going to take away from the efforts of the New england defense by defining the outcome of the game on their inability to stop a single game winning drive, then you have to give that credit to Eli and LEADING that superb drive.
The Giants and Patriots defenses kept the game balanced. But it was Eli who won the game.

If Archie had some of the players his sons have had around him, who knows how successful he might have been. he was highly respected playing for two dreadful teams in the 1970's and early 80's. (New Orleans, which was perenially awful, and then a declining post-Earl Campbell/Dan Pastorini/Elvin Bethea Houston Oilers club).

For now, I would take Peyton Manning. In two years, Eli may pass Peyton as a better QB, but for right now, Peyton is one of, if not the top QB in the NFL.

bandl, Travis and few others who say Eli didn't win the game must have turned off the last 2:30 of the game. The Giants D put the offense in a position to win and Eli took the team down the field and WON THE GAME

Eli doesn't have to be the best QB, or even the best Manning. Just the best Manning QB for the Giants. And he is xnodx
Long drives capped off by game-winning TDs with 0:35 left on the clock is the kind of stuff legends are made of. Unless (or perhaps until ;)) Eli wins multiple Super Bowls, that will be the defining moment of his career. Like Elway and "The Drive" (you know, before Terrell Davis won him 2 Super Bowls)

That's a play the Giants have been running since they brought Burress in. The fade to the back corner. Same play that beat the Eagles in OT last regular season. That, and the play-action, downfield shot to Burress in the post (it manages to surprise the Cowboys each time). It's the perfect play for a guy with his height and leaping ability, and if Hobbs isn't burned (Webster slipped covering Moss, Hobbs just got burned), he's still caught in the position of having to outleap Burress. As soon as Manning let that ball go, I knew...
I know of a guy who thought that NEW ENGLAND wouldn't score as much or more than 17: Plaxico Burress. And if you recall, Tom Brady came back with his now infamous "Only 17?". Well, looks like Plaxico was wrong since New England couldn't get those 17 points.
Eh, I never put much into the prediction. He was kidding, said he picked the numbers because they were his jersey numbers. Once he came out with the statement that the Giants were going to win, he kept getting asked for a number, so he gave them one. Now to be real conspiratorial, if either one of Brady's bombs at the end of the game is caught, the Pats can kick the game-tying FG, then the Giants win with an OT Touchdown (to Burress?), his prediction is exactly correct. How do you like them apples? xwhistlex

You can't say Eli Manning is the "Best Manning" even if Peyton had never won a Super Bowl. Back in their prime, is there anyone on this board who would have taken Jeff Hostetler or Mark Rypien over Dan Marino or Jim Kelly? The former 2 each put in 1 great season (Okay, Hostetler put in half a good season), whereas the latter 2 each put in a great career.
There's far too much emphasis on winning the Super Bowl when determining how great a QB is. Let's just elect Phil Simms to the hall of fame and be done with it then.

So Eli was playing on the defensive side that only allowed 7 points in the first 57:30, which allowed him to also contribute on offense in the last 2:30? I guess I read the scorebox incorrectly, I didn't realize Eli also played defense. The man's a beast! xcoolx
Don't get me wrong...that last 2:30 was epic on Eli's part. But it wouldn't have been a damn f#cking thing if the Patriots had scored even one more TD over the first 57:30...
