Martin Ward, the #16 RB according to ESPN, #24 RB according to rivals, and #54 RB according to scout.com has pulled his verbal commitment from UGAy and has decided to play for Georgia Southern in 2008.

Take a look at his rivals scouting video, this kid is sick. xthumbsupx

His down field speed is not that great, but this kid has some awesome open field moves, very Jayson Fosteresque, but only about 5 inches taller and about 30 pounds heavier. ;) xthumbsupx

I have no idea what Hatcher is doing, but damn that man can recruit. xnodx

OK Paladin Fan, you're up. xlolx

I had doubts about the Hatchman, but he is a great recruiter. GSU could put their class up against BCS teams.

hmm now it says he gave a verbal to marshall?

Yeah, you lost me.

I guess my inclination would be for GSU to be just a bit cautious. I have all the respect for you guys, but UGA is a pretty hot ticket in town. Hope y'all aren't taking on guys that can't cut it academically or have discipline problems.

Still though, all these running backs seem like a pretty facade without a foundation. The Eagles need offensive linemen.

according to scout.com he had offers from South Carolina, Florida, Louisville, Clemson, Georgia, Chapel Hell, and then committed to Marshall today. Sounds kind of fishy. Probably best for Georgia Southern that it looks like hes not coming to Statesboro to play.

We are kind of wondering when the old Hatchman is going to address this as well. Lots of skill guys and depth in places, but still only one lineman I know of. (my memory is bad, but I think he is a D-lineman too)xbangx

What I've seen includes 1 d-lineman, 1 O-lineman and 1 O-lineman transferring in. I think we need a lot more than that in the trenches. Well, I guess we'll know in in less than 48 hours.

The consolidation thread on TSC helped. You are right, but we are still way short.

Is he hoping for walk-ons/non-scholly?

I've thought all along that this year we're gonna have to get help on the offensive line by way of transfers. I just hope there are more than the one we have so far out there somewhere. We have 30 scholarships to give and I haven't seen near that many commitments so far.

Very unlikely that a guy who really thought he would have a legitimate shot at getting significant time playing at places like Florida, Clemson, and Georgia would commit to either Georgia Southern or Marshall. Sorry for being a cynic, but I agree with the assessment of the hype about this guy as "fishy."

I just hope the Hatchman can find us some receivers. We are going to need them now that Foster is gone.

As of when this was posted, he was committed to GSU. I guess he realized that we had 2 other 3-star RB's committed. Figured his chances were better at Marshall. Oh well.....

We lose him, but in the mean time we gained another 3-star. This time a LB out of Gaffney, JB Shippey. xthumbsupx

GSU gets O lineman Ricory Green back this year. He started as a freshmen in 05, and sat out last year for grades. He was probably the second best O lineman on the team, so that helps big time.
