Last Four In on the Bubble: UT Martin, New Hampshire, Western Carolina, Southern Utah

I was planning on basing this on a modified final GPI calculation, but since Massey and all the computer rankings were unavailable I took last week's GPI and "best guessed" where everyone would end up.

NDSU has more ranked wins than SDSU, beat SDSU, has more FCS wins than SDSU, their is no logic for them to finish behind SDSU.

Herder also has the Jacks at 2, so who knows what will happen.

Id prefer the Jacks play the Bison in the semis instead of USD though.

Nobody has explained with any clarity why SDSU would be ahead of NDSU with the schedule they had and the head to head loss. Why don’t you give it a try.

Recency bias is the only explanation. Committee punishes NDSU for losing the finale and rewards SDSU for having won out since NDSU. I’ve already said I think NDSU will be the 2 anyways. Hell I think there’s a shot USD passes SDSU for the 3 and pushes SDSU into 4. Guess we’ll find out in a few hours.

Will having the automatic bid for the MVFC give that team the 2 seed. 3 and 4 seed based on head to head results

Also, and this has been pointed out, neither SDSU or USD played ISUr, which is the other playoff team from the MVFC, your conference schedules were easier than NDSU by a lot actually. The SDSU loss at OSU is a lot worse than the close loss NDSU had with a top 25 FBS team and Big 12 confernce leader.

Nobody will sell me on the fact that NDSU is behind either SDSU or USD, I hope the committee can see through the fog. As to recency bias, didn't Furman get a seed after losing to freaking Wofford at the end of the year.

Yes - and likely paid a 5 slot drop cost in their Seeding because of losing that game without their Starting QB (probably Player of the Year in the FBS Sun Belt Conference this season, after portaling, after completing his Masters @ FU) and without their starting All SoCon RB.

Furman had one FCS loss as does NDSU.

Don’t matter none to FUBeAR - all you Dakotas look alike to FUBeAR

Just responding with full info to your query.

I already knew that, it was made perfectly clear how a top 2 or 3 seed loses to a team with one previous FCS win during the year. **** happens. If NDSU losses big at USD, I would sort of get a larger drop in the polls but each of the Dakota schools had close road losses to each other and NDSU had by far the toughest road throughout the year. The SD folks each had D2 games and had less quality wins and less FCS wins than NDSU, it really shouldn't even be an argument, it seems obvious to me but I suppose that is why it won't end up the way it should. Somebody stated that we just throw the head to head games out, fine, that tips the scales in favor of NDSU even more and it isn't close.
